I only purchase Sony TVs, and I simply just connect an HTPC to them. If there are any smart features, I just choose not to accept the EULA and not to connect it to the Internet.

The Writing Tools are a gimmick, but the improvements to Siri on the iPhone 16 are great. I haven't used the visual intelligence yet, but I always thought Google Lens was cool, so I hope it works just as well. Image Playground and Genmoji are pretty stupid, I have no idea why they wasted time on that.

Message/email summaries are super weird. They show up when they want to, which is barely at all.

Say what you want about this Apple Intelligence stuff, but it's nowhere near as intrusive or annoying as Gemini or Copilot. You can turn it off and ignore it.

Anything that uses slot machine styled reward mechanisms should be outlawed with our consumer protection laws. I support a TikTok ban only due to national security concerns, but that's not to say I believe American social media monoliths are doing anything right in the slightest either yet not to say they should be banned either. I made a post on a different thread about a month ago dissecting specific issues with my generation (Gen Z) and social media where I touch on different areas (I should really make a blog).

Side note : I'm quite interested, is TikTok as popular with Gen Z in Europe as it is in America?

I live in central Alabama. Would take over 4 hours to walk or bike to get groceries. Not everyone lives in a huge city and the ones in Alabama are too dangerous to walk around in without concealed carrying a firearm (except for Huntsville).

We keep reusable bags in the car for every time we go to the grocery store. I think the entire country would only benefit from banning single-use plastic bags nationally, and I'm not sure how you could have an issue with that.

WebTV actually had a really neat sound system. They were one of the first clients of Headspace Inc (later Beatnik) which was started by Thomas Dolby because he felt there was a lack of tools to create interactive computer audio. Before WebTV they worked on the soundtrack

Headspace created the RMF file format, conceptually a mix between an SMF and a tracker song (XM, S3M) featuring compressed or low bitrate integrated patches, which was later used as the ringtone format for almost every flip/feature phone in the 2000s (notable examples include the T-Mobile Sidekick/Danger Hiptop and most by Nokia).

Did you have anything to do with the track "as-dream"? That's my absolute favorite, it's a 20-something minute long ambient track.

I'm 16 and I want to grow up and revive the concept of a fixed-function graphics card to make graphics cards cheaper and more focused on gaming. I might even look into acquiring the 3dfx brand and reviving it with that goal. AI and crypto whatever might be the buzzwords but they don't interest me.

The average user probably isn't reinstalling their OS anyways. They don't even really have to rely on this method anymore because I was born in 2008 and grew up with Windows. It actually kind of blew my mind when I realized all *nixes were case sensitive and that they didn't have the dir and cd commands by default, all I knew was how Windows did things and I'm still pretty used to it, as much as I wish I could trust it more but I've tried to lock down my main version (LTSC IoT 2021) as much as possible from MS data collection.
