I will pay for no ads rather than have a free product with ads.

This could potentially allow publishers to place ads in areas within each app, or pay to get their content placed higher in search results

The two are very different. Im used to search results being tampered with. Ads in my books? No thanks.

coming to Maps, Podcasts, and Books

None of which I use. I get my podcasts as downloadable .MP3s from the actual podcast website and play them in my media player. All my books are read at home with Okular. As for Maps, I only use it when traveling (which is rare).

I cannot recall the number of times the “Apple is a hardware company, not an ad company” argument has been put forward to suggest that Apple will somehow behave better than Google.

I want to see evidence of this on my Apple devices before jumping to conclusions. So far I’ve yet to see an ad period. Apple, the worlds largest company, may do many things.
