No objects and GC so far. I guess local variables are stored on the stack and for everything on the heap (globals, strings) the transpiler maps MSIL loads and stores to 6502 loads and stores.
Looks hard. I doubt I'd remember much practical knowledge from the course, only what the algorithms are used for (which is fine).

Honestly any interactive shell + unix tools + any scripting language you feel comfortable with should cover the majority of things you may want to do on the command line.

I also read it a few days ago and for me it was very underwhelming. A disappointment for me was that Tolstoi was always looking for some perfection or regularity that would explain everything. But I think there was a hidden theme there, which is something that many people who have read Nietzsche but also positive nihilists agree with: we give meaning to life. Wouldn't say simpler than LEGO as there are some nuances. For example:
* making sure the motherboard supports the CPU via socket and also nominally
* making sure the heatsink can be mounted on top of the CPU socket
* having the case fit your motherboard form factor
* if there is a dedicated GPU, making sure it fits inside the case and there is a PCI-E slot with sufficient lanes for it
* if not, making sure there is an integrated GPU
* selecting a PSU that can handle the maximum power load for the GPU and that has a power cable for the GPU if it needs one
* making sure to buy the right type of ram in accordance with what the CPU and motherboard support
* if you want wifi, making sure there is built-in or there is a m.2 slot for wifi
* if you want a m.2 NVMe SSD, there should be a m.2 slot with the right key interface
Not often you end up buying parts that don't work well with each other and need to buy other parts. I once bought a small factor m.2 ssd only to discover it didn't fit the slot. I think it was trying to fit an M key device into a B key slot. Sometimes even the vendor data can be incorrect.

No reason to get upset over language conventions. There are many countries in which Colombia is refered to as Columbia (mostly phonetically). Same for the US: most countries refer to it simply as America. There are at least two countries which can be refered to as Congo. Beijing is refered to as Peking in old literature and in many european countries as well.

Not a chance on finding work for K&R C, but there may be some (local) embedded jobs in certain countries. Embedded programming should suit this person well given that it has to do with programming in limited-resource environments.
I don't think that is the case. Lower pay doesn't have to mean low quality software. Albanian software houses suffer from poor engineering decisions. I've seen source code of outsourced software meant for Italian government agencies where sensitive user data is "encrypted" as base64. When the engineering department deems base64 as appropriate encryption and nobody raises an eyebrow inside the company, safe to say it is a sign of incompetence.

They don't but individuals with healthy and active lifestyles also tend to have healthy brains (healthier than they would without the said lifestyle).
