I don't see any evidence of a flame war in this discussion, in fact there is an overwhelming consensus in the comments on the side of the author.

My rule is that if you want to settle in the country, you ought to learn the local language and it doesn't really matter how much money you make in my opinion. I got to B2 and passed the test, but ultimately left Germany years ago. I don't intend to go back but I also don't regret learning the language.

Yes, native UI toolkits are not perfect, even though I consider Qt very close to one (I'm sure naysayers will find nitpicks). In the end, the choice is between the apps that eat 1GB of your RAM and learning to deal with some idiosyncrasies of native toolkits.

We are sick of devs thinking their app is so important it needs a visual presence at all times

KDE Plasma allows hide selected applications from the tray and make those accessible in a popup window. The solution to this problem is not to remove the feature entirely, but actually implement it properly.

I used Konsole for years and it's great but since switching to Neovim as a primary editor I also switched to Kitty terminal which is in its own league. Kitty is the only one that I substituted the core KDE app for.

Not just in the Linux world, it's also far better than Windows and macOS.

Why Gentoo? 2 months ago

Never used Gentoo, but what is its advantages over, say, Guix? I don't actually use guix or nix as a daily driver, although one year ago I did install Guix on a separate partition of my desktop PC and I use nix via Home manager to install various cli-based tools.

"Technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise, finance, regulate and use it."

My comment under the post on Omarchy here got downvoted and flagged by the "technology is neutral" crowd because I dared to say that it is unethical to use software produced by a white supremacist.
