I was in Las Vegas when this happened, though we had no idea that day that this is what was happening. My wife and I went to get tickets to the Titanic exhibit at the Luxor and they said "our computers systems are down, we can only take cash". I had cash, and they sold us the tickets for extremely cheap.

Long story short, I've always felt like I stole from the casino that day too! :-)

It seems if you left click "Copy Permalink" that the site will generate a massive URL with all of your options. One of them is "settings-kiosk-checkbox". Change it to "true" in your copied URL and that should work.

This is so true. I've been on Kagi since March 2024. On the occasion that I find myself on Google on someone else's computer, I find it completely unusable from a search result perspective. It's all just junk. Kagi has me as a paying customer forever.

"Do you actually think there are meaningful numbers of people who have believed that WPEngine is actually wordpress itself?"

Yes.

"Wordpress.com leads to much more confusion on a regular basis."

Wordpress.com has a license to use the Wordpress trademark. I don't believe we should be comparing Wordpress.com to WP Engine here.

I'm not a lawyer, but WP Engine is selling products on their website literally named "Core Wordpress". That seems like it might be a violation.

It's not about WP in the company name. It's about loosely using the words "Wordpress" and "WooCommerce" all over their website in ways that violate trademarks.

I am usually slow to upgrade but I jumped on this and iOS 18 immediately because of "iPhone Mirroring".

I've only had it for a few minutes, but it's really nice!

Can you expand on the "All modern clients randomise the host part of the address" statement. Do they randomize this host part for every session or just once per network?

I've always been under the impression that it is actually easier to track an individual user on IPv6 because each device now has a unique address. Example Company could now tell the difference between 2 users in a home, for example, instead of just a single NAT'd IPv4 address. Is that not true?

If the idea is to prevent cybersquatting, why wouldn't one be able to renew a domain they already paid $850 at a price much closer to $12 than $850?

$850/year is insane, full stop. You are comparing $850 to a 5-figure cybersquatter, but they only steal your money once. ;-)

DNS Toys 4 years ago

For years now I have published DNS TXT records for my domain that include my twitter handle, email address, and a Google Voice number. I always thought it would be a fun "protocol" for people to adopt, but never knew how to advance it.

Not looking for a fight here, but it seems like there is a disconnect between 1Password/AgileBits praising version 8 while also trying to bury the fact that it is an Electron app. It seems like you are proud of what you are building (and that's awesome), but the Releases page for beta [1] doesn't contain the word Electron.
