Yes, once I can put in the delivery details something like '7 medium size bananas, with no bruising, varying in ripeness from almost ready to still slightly green' and let a robot at the other end sort it out I'll be happy.

The EPS was a lot lower than expectation though - and I thought that was the only reason people held IBM shares, they've not traditionally grown quickly but IBM has traditionally done anything it could to get a good EPS. The other more techy side is to think that a year or so ago when everyone was climbing on AI, people were buying stocks in lots of tech companies to ride that wave; some companies (Nvidia, Samsung, Micron etc) are making a fortune from it. IBM? It's got some things it can point to it's doing in AI but it's not the big beneficiary of this wave.

Nested virt on x86 is curiously painful; you'd kind of think each layer would be isolated, so that the L0 (hardware) would only have to worry about it's VM (L1), and L1 would have to worry about it's VM (L2); but nope - the L0 top level hypervisor sees faults from the L2 and has to figure out that they are actually L2 not L0. IMHO the extra complexity (and historical flakiness of it) - makes me say that enabling nesting is a bad idea for public VM hosts.

Perhaps the uncertainty is more to do with the public being able to see this new tech; think what's happened in those 30 years, some of which you as a techie would have been well aware of but most people were clueless about. Those of us using PDAs at the time, most of the public didn't imagine constant wireless connectivity and powerful computers in their pockets. Networked games, neat tricks bunches of geeks ran at the time; today everywhere. Is AI really that much of an outlier other than public knowledge?

Yeh there's lots of fun things like this; PDF is a full programming language so I think in principal you can generate PDFs that display different things to different people depending on the tools used etc. I've heard it said some of the incorrect text mapping stuff has been used in the past as a copy-protection silly to stop people copy/pasting content. (It's also a pain for those using screen readers).

A search for patents by Stephen Morein who is listed as the CTO of SAIMEMORY shows this one, assigned to Intel, and published strangely close to the press release;

It talks there about 'Z axis memory' rather than angle, and that one is talking about inductive stuff through stacks of vias.

It's going to make for an interesting future age verification problem; For a few years it'll be easy, because it's still only going to be asking people under say 25 for proof; but then in a few decades it's going to be people trying to figure out if there customer is over 40 say.
