yes, we do, e.g. flixbus. and some others I think. Haven't been traveling for a while by bus around Austria. Apples/Oranges probably, but I do know vienna<->bratislava has like 3-4 different companies operating the same route with similar busses at similar times with different prices.

Like courses on udemy. Most people buy a ton of courses probably for the feeling of having bought a course. Which translates apparently to already halfway there becoming that expert the courses promises you to become. Or they build a catalog and sell the account (on udemy).

I am doing plenty of courses across different platforms, from udemy to teachable selfhosting etc. They all lack the interactivity. I am currently hosting the code samples myself and basically redirect students there, where they can interact.

Production efficiency is one thing, but not far and the DOD or someone else on the other end of the world has some creative ideas how to use that to "make the world great again"...

yes, they do, that is true, however that's with [some]-axis stationary robots. Not humanoid robots literally running around. The best we can do right now afaik is that robot-dog-like thing which can overcome obstacles and be equipped with sensors. Nothing human like.

Quite dystopian thinking how a full factory and beyond could be run completely in the dark, just robots running around doing their thing. Faster, stronger, more accurate, never tired, never sleeping. Add in a small nuclear battery like the one from Betavolt coming up and mass produce it. And you have an autonomous "thinking" thing in the physical world capable of almost anything that humans are capable. Endless possibilities...

When I look at the pictures, I see most people are overweight (some are outright fat and obese). Is that just by accident on these particular pictures with a tiny sample size? Or is that a problem in Mexico?

I'm from Europe and when I think about Mexico, I do not have overweight people in my mind, instead a relatively healthy diet of local produce. Is that a misconception?

jokes aside, I think we're moving more and more into a place where we have thousands of specialized connectors to let the general AI models "do stuff" directly. We might finally move into a time where we can interact in multi-modal ways with a computer and "it understands and does things". But as always, with great powers comes great responsibility, not sure I'd give it access to my private keys to send transactions for example...

The water eye thing only happens to me if I cross my eyes and focus before the picture and not behind the picture. The latter takes some time to let the eyes relax, but its much more natural.

Same here, I basically turned off all the auto-complete things everywhere in all the tools I am using, can't stand it. And just before reading your comment, I had a google doc I edited in the other tab and thought, how annoying are these auto suggestions actually. Not helping at all, instead a distraction (to me).

For AI coding I'm using Aider as a docker container in the terminal in the IDE and I love it. I can write what I want how I feel the prompt to be necessary and then (and only then) it makes the changes or runs whatever I requested. The IDE runs uninterrupted and without any "smart suggestions". A tool for every job. Sometimes I do a lot in aider, sometimes I don't open it at all, but its all separated where what happens when.

But yeah, anyways, while not as strongly feeling as you (probably) towards auto suggesting mid way through my sentence, I at least feel they are more distraction than help to me.

First of all, I feel bad that my comment before apparently conveyed the wrong message: The project is well executed, code wise. It was (most likely?) a ton of work and I did not mean to comment anything negative towards the project at all.

Second, if anything in that project would have hinted even a tiny inch towards more inclusivity in card games, I would probably never had said anything. But it doesn't.

The project markets itself as solving a problem I never heard of anyone ever had ("a situation many of us have experienced") and therefore does not resonate with me or most likely anyone I ever played cards with in all-nighters. Instead, it would've been a buzzkill to play on the phone. But ok, I (or anyone I played with) might not be the target group. As I said, it was my personal opinion and that's what I expressed.

Shutting my mouth there would basically equal to a lie. I am not a liar and I am not becoming one just because my criticism is making anyone uncomfortable.

I am that kind of person who is telling people if they have spinach between their teeth, I tell people if they sat accidentally on a chewing gum and I definitely tell people if I think they are solving a non-existent problem (or their marketing message is not on par). Last time I checked, that is what this platform is for. If criticism makes people uncomfortable, great. Uncomfortable is where the comfort zone ends.

Mind you, at no point I got rude or personal or unreasonable, I hope. I stated its my opinion. My personal one. Based on my experience. And at no point I mentioned the code was bad, or at any point I was downtalking the devs, insulting or otherwise. Instead I respect their work to the utmost level. But I simply do not understand the problem they solve, instead it goes against what I experienced in my life. And on this platform I sure hope this is something that is not only allowed, but very welcome.

There are games made specifically for the phone I could imagine to pull out in a group of people, but its not card games. It's games which specifically benefit from a multi-touch device like a phone or the graphics or the gyro or other sensors. Games you cannot play without a phone. Would also be weird to play counter strike without a computer.

Especially card games are offline games for me. They're (my personal) go-to tech detox social thing and doing that with phones is simply weird for me. That's maybe why I felt so strong to make this point.

Again, awesome project. Maybe its for some, but not for me.

Let's talk card games then, because a lot of the card games are strategy.

It's how you interact with the cards.

You are not staring in your cards. Maybe you are sorting the cards. You are observing what other people are doing with their cards. Sometimes you are just glancing at cards and putting them back on the table (e.g. poker).

Everything vanishes with a phone doing that for you. It takes away the magic of card games for me.

Again, I am strictly speaking of myself, but if I go with a group of people to play cards and then they pull out their phones, I'll simply leave the table and go home or do something else.
