I'd order one, but paying that much for a domain is too expensive.

That's true and the USA also did a lot of things wrong. I just dislike that he get that much support now and people see him as a star, just because of megaupload. I doubt that the guy changed his mindset and he will stay a criminal.
I agree with your point, but would you really trust sensible data to such a person, which is known as a liar? I think the risk is too high. Lying to customers can also be fraud in some cases.
Maybe the service wasn't illegal, but he is still a criminal. Just look up his history what he did to the warez scene with his friend Gravenreuth. He also was involved in other criminal activities, so I don't know how people can say "The poor guy".
I don't think he care much about internet freedom and he would probably sell his mom if he could make money with it.
PS:(google translation of a paragraph on https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Schmitz)
"Schmitz, who claimed to be a "highly talented high school" placed at the boarding school at Plön have visited, in reality, Henry Harms school, a school principal Plön. After leaving school he spent two years in boarding school Rohwedder, a facility for adolescents with behavioral problems."
I would sum him as fat, retarded, wannabe hacker chav with a strange drain to criminal activities, who try to place himself in the center of attention. He couldn't get attention without doing this things, because nobody would give a fuck about him.
Sounds plausible. I had also a lot of luck with a .ch domain, which fits my lastname ;)
Well, the EU is already experienced with lobby work. It shouldn't be a big surprise for the most.
A bit of topic, but wasn't tm the expensive tld which you need to register for 10 years? When no can you tell me where you registered yours?
I notice a huge growth of the links to .io domains here :P
Facebook and privacy in one sentence. Seriously ;)?
How about not using facebook? I just don't see the value in it. The most people post any bullshit on facebook like "I'm in the train now. It's warm here." I think it's a waste of lifetime to read such things. There are a lot of other things to do and new things to explore, which are more fun and don't monitor your activities all the day.
Facebook is the electronic total surveillance, just on a voluntary base. They have enough users and nobody seems to care much about it, so it won't get better.
maybe you should recommend them some other tracking sites, so that they can add them to their collection ;)
I know this cases from work:
* perl.org => pornography * duckduckgo => web proxy * google images => image sharing * flickr, devianart, youtube, vimeo etc. => media sharing * HN => hacking * securityfocus => gambling
There are more cases, of course. That's why I use tethering to access the internet at work ;)
thanks, should have looked up this source..
What are the arguments for using Haskell over Ruby? For which purposes fit Haskell better?
Hmm, Woz is a great guy but Kim Schmitz(Dotcom) is an idiot and fraudster.
I thought HN is a site for news which are interesting for hacker and computer fanatics. Turned out that information, which would better fit in a boulevard magazin, are also published here.
I think it's good that we are able to get root access to the devices now. It's a positive development that we can controll these devices. It could get really popular if exploiting the TV gets easier for everybody and they could build an active homebrew community around it.
It's kind of sick that he passed away with 29 years. I also wonder why he haven't told it anybody. My deepest condolences.
Microsoft have absolutely no taste..I would probably go to the bathroom if I want to see tiles.
hehe, like the last 10 years. But Android is also Linux and we may will see Web OS as desktop OS this or next year.
A lot of people will switch to Mac and Linux soon ;) Why should anyone like this design fail? They really need to explain their operating system to their customer. OS X is simple to use and everyone know how it works if you start using it. Windows was never logical or intuitive to use and Windows 8 confirm it again.
"Source Code Insurance" I hope you don't have to pay monthly..
I would never use this for a production system to be honest. I don't see the benefits of G-WAN over nginx. Nginx is open source, so you can read the source and modify it, which gives you much more control over the server, because you know how the internals work. The nginx community is also really great, so you can find solutions for problems really fast.
No, but you could have spent more effort figuring out the problem and try finding solutions.
You've used the same mail address again, so this wasn't the smartest move, because you can't assume that the problem is on the side of ycombinator.
Don't blame a free service for the misconfiguration of your mail and/or domain setup.

Maybe it just works in the USA?
Happens to me all the time. I also have often the problem with a black screen after sleep :/
File sharing is normal for people today. I grew up with it and all people in my class exchanged games, music, movies etc. each other. Now I started working and it's nearly the same. I understand your point, of course. Music, Movies etc. are still protected by copyright, but I don't want to pay for a crappy service e.g DVD, which includes copyright violation warnings, previews of other movies and copy protection if I can get a better service for free. But I'll probably purchase the Tom Lowe movie, because he is a cool guy and offer the movie TimeScapes in various formats.
I don't think it's bad. I grow up in a time where it's normal that all information are free. I already have to pay fee's on electronic devices like printers, hard drives, DVDs etc. so this should be enough.
