Easy to say when you have the balls to express that in public which others can only express through anonymous downvotes.

Whats the obsessions with the word audacity??

Anyways, this is my perspective of the issue. And I do feels its ridiculous.

Okey this is ridiculous!!!! First the guy who patches a software with Morse code and then this guy who would rather have a AMA with strange people before he dies. News flash people, there are actual human beings around you who you should talk to rather than computers or an anonymous crowd you do not know.

No I am suggesting that they need internet access to see this way to access the internet.

I would certainly like a confirmation of this. If I remove a whole paragraph (like of acknowledgements or related research (which is already covered in the reference section)) does that mean that the paper is not owned by the journal? What if I make my own formatting and change the conclusion paragraph?

I think what you are suggesting here is already being done. I don't have much experience but from what I hear you are required to submit a "Camera Ready" copy of your submission after you have been excepted. That would mean a well formatted and edited work.

People need to understand OCW and Khan Academy serve two very different purposes. OCW was made to make the awesome materials generated by MIT profs to the general public, while Khan Academy was made specifically for the purpose of giving personalised learning. In my view both of them are noble causes and non of them should be abandoned, you can teach very less material in 10 mins after you cross the K 12 level. For covering one lesson in at the undergraduate level you definitely need at least half an hour.

I read the thing and didn't understand the word of what the author is trying to say. Maybe I am fumbled up in vocabulary or something. Anyways, if any random person were to ask this to me I would definitely go for "good grades if you want to lead a happy peaceful life and smarts if you want to live like hell but have a shot at being happy as heaven".

I used a latex class to format one of my papers. At the final date of submission I found out they except only .doc format. I am still looking desperately for a latex2doc converter. Anyone here knows about this?

I know it when I see it.

--Justice Potter Stewart, concurring opinion in Jacobellis v. Ohio 378 U.S. 184 (1964), regarding possible obscenity in The Lovers.

Imagine taking a look at a month of someone's search data, it would be revealing

Please explain to me how would any random person get that? Actually how would anyone get that data if you have not already done something which throws suspicion on you.

Although I can understand that this is a very interesting thing to watch, but I still think this is piracy and should not be advertised on HN.

I really do not get why I need a special day to say I love you. If I wanna say it, I would just go out and say it. If I want to take her out on dinner, I would just take her out of dinner whenever it is convenient for her and not on a day when she would have to wait in long lines just to eat an ice cream.

You action was a necessary cause of their deletion and therefore you are one of the directly culpable persons destroying the long tail of knowledge.

I am no expert here, but does one person tagging something for deletion make such an impact? He must have convinced the administrators by only good arguments (like lawyer arguments, which are not necessarily moral or anything, just good enough to win the case).

If we can trust the administrators for putting up something, we should trust them for taking something down.

This is just opposite of what I am thinking. I am doing too much of EE. I think about some application or the other in my spare time, draw mechanisms for robotics while I am doodling and while in class I follow my own curriculum as the one taught at my university it too slow. I am actually looking for a hobby which would take me away from the abstractions of EE and put me to a much concrete ground. Just cannot find any. Suggestions?

I wonder if Khan Academy takes in external videos (other wise making something functional with google sites is fine with me but wouldn't get nearly as much traction). I have 10min long videos explaining Digital electronics basics. My tech went one step backwards from khan, I just used pen-paper and one webcame. :) Looking into getting my videos reviewed by them, otherwise my deadline would be.... April 1st. (just thought that up now, but people say its good to have a deadline).

From HN guidlines

If your account is less than a year old, please don't submit comments saying that HN is turning into Reddit. (It's a common semi-noob illusion.)

Your account is 178days old.

TAKE THE FUV CHALLENGE. Use fuv as your only text editor for 1 year.

Then you will be ready for emacs.

WTF? What is it, an emacs for low self esteem people? "Hey I am not smart enough to take on emacs directly, let me try something which is named like it came out of the mouth of a six year old."

I tried, no I really really tried hard (one hour of googleing is a long time in google time), but I can't. I have to use MatLab for control systems course I am taking. The problem is at college I submit my code as a matlab file and the control toolbox in octave is not syntax compatible with matlab control toolbox. So I guess octave lost to my university site licence.
