I've been working on converting midi/virtual midi input (from a performer) to notation in real time for an iPad notation app. It really is hard - I spent a tremendous amount of time on it, an still plan on improving it indefinitely after the feature ships.

You can still get rapid feedback with a computer simulation tool for automotive engineers (of which I have no specific knowledge, though!).

I really appreciate the feedback. This is what drove at least 80% of the development time. We spent more time fixing issues and adding certain features that beta testers reported & requested than developing the gist of the application. (i.e. we thought we were done but actually were far from it - this was the obstacle I was talking about).

By the way, you can delete bars by tapping the gear icon and then tapping a measure to open a popover.

We will make a better PDF export system and advanced lyrics and chord notation support.

We just released an iPad app called Symphony Pro. I'd like to know what you guys think! We applied to YC on the basis of music composition on the iPad last spring, didn't get in, but eventually pulled through. Development did take a while due to some obstacles.

We are working on music composition software for the iPad. We currently have an iPhone app out called Symphony (which already runs on the iPad), but we need to redesign it to accomodate the larger screen size.

Truly stunning design & idea. On a similar note, I'm planning to work on a music composition app for the iPad starting summer when I'm done with the semester. It's basically an extension of an iPhone app called Symphony, which still needs more work.

Since YC is not giving feedback for our proposals, does anyone here know a reliable place to get advice from somebody like YC?

Not to mention the iPad has a screen size allowing developers to create applications unlike many you see on the iPhone.

We've applied to YC with a music composition application as opposed to a music reader. We think the iPad is ideal for this domain since the much larger screen will allow users to take advantage of interfaces like a virtual keyboard or guitar that you can't really fit in an iPhone's screen.
