I could give a crap about someone's deep algorithim knowledge.

That's just proving the point of the person that you replied to, though. If you could give a crap then you obviously care about it.

Take Naps at Work 9 years ago

I worked for a very small startup in London that embraced napping as part of their culture, some 8 years ago. It worked wonders (provided that you napped for 15-30 minutes at a time and didn't pass out for an hour or two). We even had a dark storage room with a sofa that was the designated nap area.

Fast forward to the current day. That company no longer exists (it was acquired), but the co-founders went on to create another company that is doing very well. I made the decision to go freelance at the end of last year and as fate would have it I am currently working for the new company. Napping is still encouraged. They're one of the most productive, driven teams that I've ever had the pleasure of working for.

Napping is good.

Hello! I'm Brad, and I'm a Bristol (UK) based frontend web developer with over 10 years of professional experience. I am currently working on a freelance / contract basis but am open to full-time employment if the right role comes along. I am also open to remote work.

My specialities lie in the frontend: building responsive, accessible interfaces using modern tools such as Gulp, SASS, React, Redux... the list could go on. I'm a Linux developer with a great knowledge of Git, a keen user of and contributor to open-source software, and have experience in both agency and agile startup environments.

Please check out my portfolio and CV on my website listed above, and if you think I could help, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Anywhere but Medium 11 years ago

I was actually going to say much the same, even

I'm actually more likely to use Medium now than I was before.

Yeah, it's pretty lame. I've been reduced to carrying a coin purse (!) in my day-to-day/commute backpack containing just 20p and 10p pieces so that I'm always able to use a public toilet if I need to. Nothing worse than really needing to go but not having any change on you.

Enjoy the moment. Relax. Observe your surroundings. It's sad seeing people who cannot deal with lack of external stimulus [...]

This is what I want to do (and will try to). It's not that I cannot deal with a lack of external stimulus though, it's just that I'm too anxious and in my own head. But now that I've reached 30 I've started caring a lot less about stuff like this and think I might be able to (for example) enjoy a meal in a restaurant on my own, or sit and have a glass of wine somewhere, if I wanted to.

You might want to check out i3wm[1]. I know you said that you're not particularly interested in tiling WMs but it's great for multiple monitors. Thinking about it, it would be perfect for a triple monitor setup as it solves a lot of the problems you've mentioned (monolithic workspaces, moving windows to workspaces predictably, etc.) and is highly (and easily) configurable.

It actually makes zero sense to wash the sushi down immediately with sake as it changes the flavor of what you're eating [...]

I got the impression that was the intended purpose here, though; you can enjoy the flavours separately, but in the case of the briny sushi that he was served the addition of the sake created a different flavour that was worth trying.

do we even have them in the UK?

We do indeed, they opened their first branches a few years ago. There are now six locations in London.

I'm not really a fan of burritos but the people in my office seem to like the bowls.

It works exactly as I expected it too though. I don't look at it every day and think "wow, this is amazing"; it just works and I don't really think about it at all, which is how it should be. I'm not sure that I would buy a phone without wireless charging now.

No, but there's a JS file that transforms your LESS into CSS in the browser. It's handy for development but obviously you'd want to pre-compile for production.

I enjoyed them! I've been thinking about getting into HTML5 game development recently but couldn't think of a good place to start. Creating lots of little games like this (simple arcade games) seems like as good a place as any - perhaps I'll attempt something similar. Thanks for the idea!
