The reason I asked is that creatine will allow you to lift a bit more (a little more weight, a few more reps). This will cause more muscle fatigue which in turn can lead to more cramping. Water and electrolytes can help, but when the muscles are fatigued they are still more likely to cramp.

I've been taking 5g/creatine daily for nearly 30 years. In weightlifting circles it's always been popular because it's cheap and one of the few non-steroidal supplements that actually works.

This also misses caffeine as the other a-tier supplement

In college Ripped Fuel wasn't banned yet. We would take two, go to the gym for 2 hours, shower, then go out until the sun came up the next day. It's no surprise it was eventually banned. I think some people ended up dying by taking too many.

Yes. I've heard some say that SJ being fired allowed him to go out and learn to move from founder to CEO. Only when he came back to Apple did he finally have the skills and maturity to be CEO.

I don't like these 2 statements because they are only true at a starting point. If someone gets a mortgage today for $2k/month, 10 years from now it'll still be $2k/month, or even less if rates drop and they refinance. Rents OTOH will continue to rise with inflation. I had a $2k/month mortgage at my last house and the house next door rented for $4500/month.

It's a bit like when the inflation basket subs ground beef for steak, and then says food is getting cheaper.

I've gone back and read so many books I was supposed to have read in HS and college. I don't think at the time I had the life experience to fully grasp many of the message(s). It's one thing for a teacher or guide to explain in abstract the underlying messages, it's another to have dealt with them in your own life and see yourself in the characters [1].

The last house I lived in had an easement along the back property line. I built my fence on the easement knowing full well they would tear it up if they needed to access anything. I live in a denser town now where the power comes from the street to my house, wraps around my house, then lines to the next building over. I guess I should tell those people in the other building to figure out a different way to get power.

Some of these threads make me think every line of code written pre-LLMs was apparently perfect in all ways. Feels like romanticizing the past.

What percentage drop do you need to consider it a 'crash' and to buy back in? Is it a drop from when you sold or the peak? What if the peak is another 20% higher and the crash is 10%? While you're sitting in cash, you're also losing to inflation each day.

I generally consider timing the market such as this to be a fools errand, but if you're going to do it you need to have a plan beforehand and follow it. A target date fund does exactly this with allocations.

Not just build machines. Years ago I scripted the entire build process to create hundreds of apps based on parameters and submit them. It was an attempt to work around the horrible App Store search. The original app had packages of content that could be purchased, but it was hard to convey from the single app listing. Eventually Apple said don't do that and we reverted back, but at that point we had moved on to something completely different.

How is the whole economy exposed to AI? Will Anthropic or SpaceX cratering threaten the entire financial system? NVDA will certainly correct, which is probably the biggest risk to the market, but then what? All the FCF being spent by Google, Amazon, MS, Meta, etc... will suddenly start flowing to dividends and stock buybacks again. It's not like their core business is selling AI. Apple will be able to get cheap RAM/chips again while also keeping their recently increased prices.

I could see an argument that the economy is currently being propped up by the hope of AI productivity gains, but that seems spurious.

People also change and want different things at different parts of their life. Young and single - living in an apartment is amazing. Once someone is coupled up, has kids, and some animals, a SFH also looks much more appealing. Once the kids are gone, then an apartment/condo starts to look pretty attractive again.

Agree. I'll listen to nonfiction because it just feels like a long podcast. Fiction I always read. But in general I'm not a huge fan of audiobooks.

I was talking to an amazing lawyer/business person I know one day and I asked about writing 'air tight' contracts which would never put you in a position to be screwed. He said something along the lines of, that's impossible. Someone could take you to court and you could still lose even if you think the contract is perfect. What he said next stuck with me over the rest of my career, 'if you truly can't trust someone, no contract will be fool-proof. The solution is simply to not work with or do business with them.'

Citation needed. There are a lot of ways I can improve as a person, but I can promise you I am not and not ever been a murderer or killer regardless of consequences. Even if someone threatened me or someone else, I would do my best to not kill them and simply diffuse the situation.

Gate to gate (if the plane door is closed) wifi has been a thing for most (all?) of the US airlines for awhile. Delta's wifi is ok, but I routinely have issues. It could be a combination of older technology on the plane and worse satellite network, but it's supposedly nowhere near as good as plane with Starlink.

I also use Starlink at my house in Italy. I'm in a decent sized town, but there is no fiber available. It has worked great, and more importantly took about 10 minutes to setup.
