The speed limit on the NJ Turnpike is largely 65, but traveling at 70 - 80mph on the turnpike is normal, often the speed to just keep up with traffic, depending on the day/where you are on the road.

Wanting to go 80 on the NJT isn't "taking it to the track", it's "driving from A to B".

Dear Recruiters 13 years ago

These days, I reply to recruiters with what they can realistically expect in the market, job description vs. expect pay rate. More often than not, the pay they're offering is way, way too low for the market at large, never mind myself.

Sometimes I get a reply, sometimes not, but I get the feeling that by & large the terms are out of their hands, and I doubt the recruiter sending the emails/making contacts is the same person that got the req from the hiring manager/company. It's that person, the person accepting the req, that needs to know the market and work with the hiring entity to put together a realistic job package. It's that person you should be frustrated with.

Not listed: the offending description, on which the whole thing seems to hinge.

Meetup.com seems like an awful choice for conference registration, or any one-off kind of event. I've been running not-for-profit tech conferences for a few years, and the mix of Eventbrite for registration (especially if it's a free-to-attend event, as mine are), and Lanyrd for schedule, speaker, session listings, and social interaction have turned out to be the perfect mix for me.

The only thing I'm missing out of those two is a system for accepting and voting/choosing speakers and sessions, but hey, I'm a developer, there are ways. :)

Well now, this is odd. I don't know if it's because of the recent background check done by the US Government, or associating with the Microsoft App Store -- either of which (timing-wise) seemed to prompt Dunn & Bradstreet to call me and sell on their services -- but I started the Apple process to secure a number, and the helpfully found the number I apparently already had and emailed it to me.

I never went to D&B to get one, so... anyone know why I have one already?

You can bet their ToS and our ToS are not nearly the same.

I just want to caution folks that whoever did this using this "Meredith" account is not necessarily (and most likely is not) Meredith, the person. It's much more likely that a hacked account would be used to do something malicious like this.
