I'd say most are hosted first, Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, etc. They all sell software to host feeds from your own standardized cams (Axis, Hanwah, Samsung, etc) via h.264/mpeg. The cloud hosted CCTV at scale is relatively recent.

United has this on some flights. It's no cost but they force you watch ads in the captive portal. I'd rather pay the $8 and be left in peace, every time.
For those interested, there is a lovely IRIX clone WM called MaXX. I've been using it for a couple months and have been quite happy with it on a remote dev machine. I believe it only runs on xorg currently.
This looks neat but the biggest question I have and care about... UBO? Not the limited manifest v3 version or whatever it's referred to as, but the full bore block lists like in FF.

This seems reasonable. The content includes themes (death, rape, violence, etc) that are generally considered NSFW by most modern day rating agencies. Just because cultures have historically seeded the texts for a long period of time doesn't make them SFW. If ESRB/MPAA had to rate a modern reboot, I don't think it would get a T/PG-13.
Personally, I wouldn't want my kids exposed to this kind of material without at least having a chance to talk to them about it first. Would you want your child getting sucked into something like Scientology without your knowledge?

Definitely, I would hope these kinds of systems become less useful with more encryption. I imagine, these kinds of collections I mentioned above are just one of many angles used in an investigation with this particular angle being for correlation and supporting evidence against a request to bookface, cloudflare, etc.
edit these network devices probably also carry voip/voice trunks from enterprise and possibly carriers such as VZW. No telling if those are encrypted or not. If China is able to tap that using these CALEA systems, I could see how that would be a big deal for stealing IP/secrets.
So what was the actual point of compromise? Was it a CALEA supporting software vendor? My guess is a common MD (Mediator device) vendor was targeted that was used by many carriers but that's speculation on my part.
Context for others, there's a small number of software vendors that make these MD devices that handle initiating a capture of a flow (a wiretapping request) and managing the chain of custody for a pcap. MDs usually sends an SNMP poll to a router/switch to start a (r)span port and the MD device slurps up all data and saves it.
Anyway, what I'm curious about is if it's the MDs that were taken over and if it was one manufacturer but I'm not seeing much technical info on all these reports.

Heh glad someone mentioned 1.5, that was my golden version. Pack friends into my parents garage with a hub and play local. No famas/shield and no STEAMing pile of shit (as we called it then). Similar request as the parent, my use case is I setup a long prompt/task and like to go for a walk around the block to get my legs moving. Being able to "move the llm along" and make small modifications from my phone would be nice. Personally, I'd never do a long session that way but the chance to move my legs while it does a long task but not get stuck on a simple question in the claude tool would be lovely.
Since this relies on simulating safari as the broswer, I wonder if a conditional access policy enforcing browser selection would help mitigate this.
While only realistic for a small number of users, I've started enforcing users of privileged tools to go through a wireguard instance before being allowed to access Azure hosted tools that rely on Entra auth. Services I publish then have a ingress whitelist of said wireguard VM.
This was always a victory to teenage me after fighting with SDL and Nvidia drivers on Gentoo. Getting this to work with good framerate was always so exciting. Nostalgia hit for sure.
So what's the application for data?
Would this provide for tighter channels in WDM networks (with less spacing between channels) since dispersion is less of an issue? Might be out of my league on this but I thought DCMs were a work around for dispersion at distance.
Maybe faster packets for teleprotection control systems?

So is this Microsoft account requirement a 'home' version thing? I can't imagine they would force this on pro installations. Unattended installs, kiosks, ATMs, display walls, etc. would be a nightmare to deal with this.
You can use OSX without an Apple account and paired with a 3rd party host based firewall (Little Snitch), the OS usually stays out of your way (imo). Bundled apps can be removed after disabling SIP (file integrity) but there are downsides/maintenance to that route.
At this point, I just won't go to any event where a Ticketmaster/Livenation/etc is involved. They've taken a lot of the joy out of music events for me.
Between LFS and Stage 1 and 2 Gentoo installs back in the early 2000s during High School, this gave me a big leg up in my journey of learning about computers and Linux. I can't thank those project maintainers enough for helping me get my footing at such a young age and peaking my interest in computing. I ended up printing out the LFS book in segments on one of the printers in High School and brought it home in pieces to use on the home computer.
I bought one of these from Toys R Us and have such fond memories of Wario Land, Telroboxer, and even Mario Tennis. For as much flack as this system received, I thought it was just coolest thing ever but finding games felt next to impossible. Every now and then I'll still boot it up and play a few rounds.

GoLang and Azure APIs.
I've been attempting to add a oauth2 device code flow to a Tacacs server with the goal of extending Azure accounts to access network device management planes. Pretty neat, I can get a "enter this device at URI" from the router/switch and let Azure do it's 2fa/compliance etc. Currently trying to get token validation working on the tacacs server =).
Ultimate goal is have a reverse proxy web front end kind of like Apache Guacamole that does the Oauth for the user and when they click on a network device, the JWT is passed through to the network device over SSH and thus the tacacs server which is relatively local to the network device which will validate it and let the user into the network device.
Playing around with GPT4/Opus a lot lately and man... I have feelings. They've been a great learning tool to learn the basics of Go though so I'm thankful.

Big fan of the "bum gun" style bidet. Ime, much more control and water pressure compared to what I've used in Japan. I was in Thailand recently and bought a few for use in the states. Use of anything less just doesn't feel sanitary.

Austin is brutal for eating out compared to 1st class cities. Everything is mediocre at best and expensive. Silly anecdote but I've started ordering delivery pizza from a deep dish Chicago (frozen and shipped) place and the price is comparable to the pizza chain down the street from me. The Chicago pizza is drastically better than what gets delivered locally.
