I was head-hunted a while back from Wayfair, and I felt that it was too good to be true: 1. high pay for remote work, 2. small teams, and 3. working on interesting tech (I think it was an AI furniture preview, like Amazon has). I ultimately decided against Wayfair because I had the feeling that helping a company sell predominately low-quality Chinese furniture to unassuming Americans would further enlarge the void in my soul, and I would be working far too much. Perhaps for a year or two, it would have been a dream come true, if I didn't want to have a life outside of work...

Clickbait.

I have taken a lot of these in the past, and the label "pseudoscientific" is unwarranted. The "writer" cherrypicks and generalizes data to discount it, but if you want to understand the mechanism of, say, Ashwagandha, you probably should spend a few hours reading research and meta-analyses and not spending 10 minutes on Google to decide if it's "good" or "pseudoscience".

Should these companies not be allowed to advertise and distribute products that might help some and might hurt others? Should tech writers write health articles when they don't know what they're talking about?

Government lies, aka statistics, conveniently ignore the cost of high quality items when doing averages. If you are buying eggs as a health conscious person, you know not to buy $1/dozen eggs any more because industry producers have made them low cost by reducing quality, feeding chickens soy and the cheapest excuse for food. The pastured ones are 5-10x the cost and the quality is night and day. US government conveniently views these things as staples, but they are not.

How dare they breathe the air and spread their highly transmissible virus, like has happened for eons! Then again, why would you choose to breathe in their sickness? Were you not wearing 3 masks and keeping 3 meters distance? Did they make you come to work? Call the tribunal, we must get to the bottom of this, as soon as we've uncovered what causes rectal itch from the office chairs!

It's a shame that Google is so good at hiring top talent, and even better at under utilizing them. The company had a hypomanic vision of greatness by throwing everything to see what stuck, and still can't get a new idea that is profitable besides marketing & advertising due to their virtual monopoly. I'm very curious what the breakdown of positions will be. This is a failure of leadership and Sundar should resign.

Lucky. I am the same way, stable job, high pay, and very rewarding, although I think if I were to be honest, and know my own worth, I'd know I was being short-changed both in my pay and fulfillment, versus working for myself. But to each their own...

These are the constraints in employment: high compensation, fulfillment, or stability. You can pick one, maybe two. If you want a meaningful and stable job, choose to work in a stable industry (such as Federal Government), and forego the high compensation.

^ This person gets it. The "overton window" in American politics is narrow enough that we essentially have a de facto uniparty, that agrees on everything except what matters. About 40% of the country is Independent but we pretend that either of these parties represent us. Then we fight about which party is worse. I can't see any other way that this could have happened after the introduction of fiat currency and endless war budgets financed by fiat. Eisenhower was right about the Military Industrial Complex.

The amount of death and destruction that the recession/depression is expected to cause to certain parts of the third world is tantamount to genocide. For those of us in the "laptop class", sure, we will be impacted adversely (and especially those who didn't plan for it, despite all of the red flags in the past 10 years), but it's hardly the same thing. I should be fine, as I have a comfortable, government job, but I fear for many of my friends who already were living paycheck-to-paycheck and will be like deer in the headlights once their jobs are impacted.

Like most things made in China, COVID-19 was poorly engineered, just like their ham-fisted approach to combating it. Something about totalitarian regimes causes a race to the bottom in human rights, arts, and sciences.

That TLDR should be on every so-called physician's office, especially in America. Actual healthcare is your own duty. Most physicians are there for medicine/testing, which are both for-profit, and they are not incentivized to keep you in optimal health. In fact, they make a little bit more money if all of their clients are not too healthy... which is why so many doctors are moral injured from hospitals putting profits ahead of health when they realize they act as prescription and diagnosis drones for so many of their patients. It's better to call US "healthcare system" the "disease maintenance industry", as once you combine the "health" lobby with the "food" lobby, you see they work synergistically to keep consumers at sub-optimal health, and maximum profitability for all the leeches involved. Disgusting.

I didn't sign up to be a lab rat, and it was a 3 day head cold when I caught Omicron on NYE. But I also paid close attention to the independent research and followed the advice of my doctors to improve my health (as measured by Vitamin D in this case).
