No need to link out to personal site (no way to remove link from original topic). I've just copied and pasted the blurb below:
With summer officially here and July around the corner, we’re at the half way point of 2014. A great time to reflect and determine if on track. Coincidentally, my friend Max shared a thoughtful and entertaining blog post around reflection.
If all the subdomains had links back to zilo (say the header or footer), it starts to look like a huge link farm, or a bunch of satellite sites. It's actually pretty dangerous. But disavow is here, right? hah
Why would I spend time managing contacts on a network/service that I rarely use.
IE - some people use myspace to communicate with select people, but would never spend time to update a friend list on a service they rarely use. Imagine if they just imported all of your friends from myspace to fb.. disaster
took a quick look, aren't those backlinks to subdomains? No idea what the product/service does but it appears subdomains are the main spam links, not the root.. So perhaps they were duped by spammers creating subdomains
Do people still use msn? I use adium with multiple accounts from different networks (including msn). Guessing this is more for hotmail interface aka gmail video chat.
My msn contacts are never online.. more frustrating that it's going to clutter my existing skype contact list with friends or associates from years past that I never want to see or talk to.
or better yet.. when people submit links on social networks that contain the m.subdomain and you try to click on the link via desktop AND it's impossible to read b/c it's formatted for a mobile device.
Thanks for the detailed response. How did you find linkedin? I have some friends that used that oauth method and it wasn't as social as say fb or twitter. Would love to hear any comments on how those networks performed for your projects
This is super cool for getting up and running supa dupa quickly.
Side Q - Does anyone have conversion data on what oauth works best? If you know of a blog, video, or insight.. would love to hear about it - http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4675010
