I've tried to learn rust of the longest time but failed, it's not the community that is the problem but the language itself. It is far from aesthetically pleasing, a child of perl and c++ meta template programming that inherited the worst traits of both.

Go and Python are my current preference, and C being an old soul mate.

IMHO there is little point of these conversion projects. It screams of "look at me, see what I made" and when the attention goes down a little nothing was ever pushed to the repo ever again.

Perhaps I am out of touch, but a project with author/s that have passion for every line, function and purpose, feels more real and worth my trust to spend time using it.

Well, implementations of UEFI are all over the board because vendors have their own ideas, that leads to compatibility issues.

It is also a security risk, as it is essentially a huge system (compared to BIOS) under the actual OS, compromise the former and own the latter. The larger code base, the larger attack vector.

Yes, UEFI do have some positives but the security risk far outweighs them.

I've noticed it is a quite common attitude in society, not paid enough to care so they don't.

Instead of a gym another options are joining volunteer groups, a fraternity order (Oddfellow / Rebekahs), a local D&D meetup or local motorcycle club. Sharing a common interest is the easiest way to make new friends.

AFAIK healthcare in UK is tax funded, and smoking with its long list of damages to the body, takes a portion of that taxpayer money which could be used on something underfunded, like mental healthcare.
