I'm sure you're right but I also think there are many kids who have probably never even thought about the mechanics of what goes on behind the web sites they visit, the games they play (and everything else vaguely tech related they come into contact with on a daily basis). So maybe it will, at the very least, introduce more kids to the fun that can be had, and ultimately, to careers in the sector.

Ugh, sorry. Not sure if that was always the case and I've mis-remembered or there's been a change but my NAS point remains. Personally, I'd rather not faff around with an external drive plugged directly into my laptop.

Agreed on the awesome post front and one of the reasons I became a customer in the first place. I'm unlikely to renew my annual subscription this year, though, because they don't support external drives/NAS. I don't like cluttering up my laptop with photos so have to transfer everything I need backing up to my rarely used desktop PC, which is a pain. I can understand there's a risk people might abuse networked storage by backing up multiple devices but in my case I wouldn't mind paying more for that service or simply based on actual GBs stored.

Edit: They do support external drives but not NAS. My bad.

It's true that you don't tend to mill around town in first gear but the title of the post is 'Tesla Model S outperforms Aston' which implies to me that both cars were performing optimally. I bet most people hadn't picked up on the fact the Aston was in the wrong gear for a race. I hadn't until I read your comment.

I think it's rather telling the video doesn't show it negotiating a corner at a lean angle. Presumably that's quite a problem.

Yeah but CPM is also used to denote revenue. I notice Google now uses RPM in their Adsense reports which makes more sense but they used to (from memory) use the term eCPM.

As a city car I'm impressed by the Renault Twizy (it's a 4 wheel bike). Okay, so the power output and range are much lower but for shorter commutes when you can charge overnight it seems to make a lot of sense. Webmaster tools? Related: I host a org.uk site in the States which ranks well for relevant searches. It's a tourist site in the UK so I'm only really interested in UK traffic.

Because people who don't pirate stuff are subsidising those who do and if nobody paid for anything, new stuff wouldn't get made (or at least it wouldn't be available from those people who relied on the income from sales to make a living).

Actually, I am British. I did consider the possibility that those comments were an attempt at humour but sadly I think it's unlikely based on my previous experience of Comment Is Free. (For those not familiar, that's how The Guardian refers to its comments section).

A couple of quotes from comments on the Guardian's version of the story:
