If you’ve been involved in a lawsuit against one of the Musk corps (or he doesn’t like you), Tesla just shows a poop emoji on the dashboard and locks the doors.

BMW does this before Tesla did : https://global-master-awsprod-b1.prod.bmwweb.eu-central-1.aw... It is not for cars, but actually many connected boxes exist for motorbikes, such as georide (french) https://georide.fr/pages/detecteur-chute-moto. So not really never seen before.

If you have five people in the car with apple watches or similar you could have 6 calls in total. Wonder what the theoretical max number of calls would be in a fog pile-up.

Not even just Apple products - in my 2022 Toyota, the car itself and my 4g connected dashcam both would call 911 on top of phone auto dialing. I’ll take the triple redundancy if it means the ambulance comes faster.

My car did this for me when I crashed back in 2014. The best part is how the song I was listening to before the accident resumed after the call like nothing happened.

Ford cars in Europe have done this for years… my son crashed his 2016 Fiesta the other week and the car automatically called the emergency services via his phone

Why is it news when a car can do something that watches have been able to do for years?

Tesla in particular was already loaded with all the tech to do this.
