Or a company is estimated at a billion every 3 months. How many billion dollar software companies does we really have?
How many times is this going to be posted? Whats new here?
The site has German words on some pages even though I've switched to the English locale.
> But Stripe hasn't nailed it and Braintree couldn't nail the "immediate sign up" outside of the US so I too will wait to hear if it's all that much different.
Correction: Braintree hasn't nailed it even inside US, despite reports otherwise. Even though you can sign up and get started with a developer account immediately, there is a human underwriter who looks at your account and activates production. This process might take lesser time now, but its not automated (like Stripe) and some people might get rejected on the way.
This step is the key value proposition for me. If Braintree or Paymill doesn't work like that, then they are not comparable to Stripe.
Also as a side note:
For anyone to think that Filepicker.io is not a side project, do not use the stock themed Bootstrap.
Right now, it looks straight out of RailsRumble.
Apple sales are high due to international availability, and thats no ordinary feat. It would interesting to see US only numbers.
I liked the old Apple, which out-sold the competition just on their product and product differentiation.
I'm not sure why Microsoft doesn't put it up on the App Store. They will probably get a lot less customer information, but things would be so convenient. Apple will stand to make a cut, but then there are several companies which sell both on the web as well as the App Store - why not do that.
Adobe was hesitant at first too. They brought several smaller apps to the App Store at first, then followed by some big ones.
I really like this company out of Techstar's - https://www.digitalocean.com/ . Been using them for a bunch of apps with no problem
My 2 cents:
1. Find a customer which you think this product is made for, if you can. Pitch them your model. Get feedback, iterate on the model.
2. Develop an MVP. Search tech talent on oDesk, Elance or your personal network - get something out. Keep that customer in the loop.
3. After that, try to get that customer using it. Iterate again.
4. Market it. Get more customers. Raise $$$. Build a team.
Irrespective of its complexity? Your website doesn't say much. What if it contains complex controls, elements which are not native to Bootstrap ?
Planning to attend this one
Does the web editor support editing files in a bare repo ?
Looks incredibly cool. What JS library/framework is this using?
