consent in a company managed chat app doesn’t exist

It is. Firm I worked at had AI summarized chats delivered to admins and upper level management.
If you talk shit about your superiors, it will get back to them. Same with "anonymous" surveys.
Publishing "career ruining " messages on a company managed chat app is probably a bad idea in general.
What I'm wondering is why can't we have this level of enthusiasm for actual environmental reform and the transition to clean energy?
_O&G industry has entered the chat_
O&G industry is the answer to your question. They have the motive to ensure that their energy production method is dominant and have the funds to send lobbyists to convince/pay off lawmakers/politicians to advance their mission.
Very interesting analysis and setup.
I wonder what is considered "unnecessary programs" by the author. Is "apparmor" or sandboxing considered in this? Or just user space applications (browser, discord, …).
I wonder if input latency would be improved if you ran setup as `root`. I wouldn’t do it for security sake, but just curious
I can’t wait for Ai bubble to bust already. Maybe it will happen in October/November like the crypto hype.
Probably but now planning of these datacenters will now include power redundancy and a shit ton of backup power. Some commenters here think "just move dc to texas." Sounds like a good idea until you realize grid is nearly entirely separate from federal grid. State manages it and completely ignores any attempts to weatherize it.
2021 was an absolute disaster. There was a moment where the grid could have completely collapsed. But by some luck, the state avoided that.
Can they do that next time? Shall wait and see.
Should read the article before spouting off FUD
One-year construction ban will apply to data centers using 50 megawatts or more, official says
This is targeting "hyperscalers" or AI dcs. Non-AI datacenters consume well below this threshold.
rewriting {PROGRAM} in rust is so fetch.
I think big money/private equity/vulture capitalists tend to ruin everything. They set these unrealistic goals and force companies to do shady shit in order to meet these often unattainable goals or achieve unicorn status.
It’s why con artists, scammers always flood every hype cycle. Greed ruins everything.
I’ll give it a shot.
Side note: the image of project founder cosplaying as Steve Jobs on front page had me dying.
Impressive feat. I doubt hn readers could last a single week in wilderness let alone a couple months at sea.
Apple has failed to live up to the Steve Jobs era and initial iPhone hype. It's not just "AI experiences", it's computing in general. Maybe the consumer sector is just dead/dying. Maybe consumers are just running out of cash because filthy VCs are destroying communities and forcing the 99% into poverty.
The one thing that is marginally exciting: the Apple SoC or M series chips.
It's unfortunate they are locked behind crappy macOS and other proprietary apple crap.
i have my own custom domain with a non ".com" TLD for e-mail and the number of services that reject sign ups for this purpose are way too high.
notably, micro center _was_ an issue but had to raise exception.
it's a neat experiment, obviously inspired by the bun guy.
but given the author/maintainer is essentially unknown, I highly doubt this will reach it's target audience. But one thing I do agree with is that postgres is long overdue for a re-write into a memory safe language.
also any real swe with more than a few years of experience knows "100% of regression suite passing" doesn't mean anything other than a neat checkmark for C-level executives.
geocities/angelfire but for Gen Z and A
this is why Microsoft is pushing so hard for Microsoft accounts at install
"trusted" meaning "paid millions to trump admin slush fund account"
built by Broadcom
AI is cooked bro. Broadcom is the death sentence of anything.
Took them long enough. Now if only Google would follow with their own services.
Sure Gmail has ipv6 enabled and routable ip6 MX. but sending to those addresses is often rejected and forced to retry over ipv4.
Don’t get me started on gh
We have collectively let a few companies control/centralize the internet. Then have a shocked pikachu face when these same companies do shitty things.
Hyundai/Genesis vehicles are pretty bad imo. Wonder if they are pivoting to strictly robotics and automation.
This is what you call a PR hire.
Among the first domino to fall leading up the AI bust. Hope my 401K won’t get decimated by this one.
Multi billion dollar company, by the way.
Premier? How outdated. Should have named it "Waymo Supreme" for that extra generational cringe.
What’s up with the fake review?
I get privacy, time back, …
Yea you get "privacy" in a car kitted with the most advanced 360 degree camera system in the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Waymo PR team unhinged
Got to payout the investors before the burst
What happens when the music stops?
Government hands Wall Street another bailout to the tune of trillions of dollars. Wall Street executives and hedge funds use funds to enrich themselves as usual. Main Street and tax payer get fisted again. These massive data centers go bust. Get gutted during bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings Public deals with the fallout with no help from government.
Politicians are just foot soldiers/weeds in this game. Pluck one corrupt politician. 2 more grow in its place.
I would like the billionaires to be jailed, their political pawns in government removed from office, Citizens United to be nullified, FEC regulations re-worked from ground up, and codified.
It’s a public release prepped/reviewed by the in house legal counsel.
Don’t read too much into it. Facebook wants to face as little accountability and keep the future class action lawsuit to a minimum.
