Wikileaks is using him as a meat puppet and now he is totally fucked, whatever shred of credibility he had is lost by praising Russia for their dedication to human rights. I suppose you can defend their record but you will be fighting uphill.
What if they had vague powerpoint slides?
Shortlist? That would be a very, very long list. So long in fact as to be totally useless. There is a cure for Internet paranoia. Fresh air and sunshine.
Which country would that be?
Is it inconceivable that crime is lower due to more police on the streets and more criminals in jail?
Sure but then Netflix and Universal stealing translated subtitles from these "pirates" and including it on their commercial content is also piracy.
Umm, no. It may be unethical but the "pirates" have no copyright protections for a movie dialogue unless they wrote the movie.
Should have figured that was the case, but even not logged in Google's search results are so much better that they have a practical, if not legal, monopoly on search. Trying to have any privacy these days is like trying to stop the tide with a sand castle.
How long until you don't get proper search results unless you log in to Google+.
Transcribing audio does not transfer ownership. People get amazingly confused about copyright. You can argue that all info wants to be free, which is very bad for privacy, but you cannot argue if you transcribe Star Wars now you own the dialogue.
Couldn't they just cache some ads as well instead of limiting features. They could also log GPS and send it back later so they don't lose location data.
Your theory does not hold up as the UK and others have multiple parties and a worse surveillance state.
That is a lovely theory except for the fact that virtually every government is doing the same.
We'll build a treefort out back and eat candy for dinner every night, it'll be great.
You should break your pills in half.
It appears to be a concept album about humans reaching their full potential (the stars) and is uplifting in general if not edgy. I compare it to Flaming Lips album Yoshimi. Even in Get Lucky there is a double meaning of up all night working on something and up all night to party, both equally valid.
MIT's radio show French Toast has been playing other tracks from the album, not as edgy as their older stuff but quite good. Get Lucky is catchy but a little repetitive.
It may be easier to make a list of countries that don't do mass surveillance. Are there any?
This made me think of a court case a few years back. The defendant was arrested for shooting a potato cannon (PVC pipe, BBQ grill lighter and hairspray for propellant). When the charges were read as using a dangerous weapon the defendant's lawyer replied that if a potato were a dangerous weapon then Ireland would be a superpower.
Feel free to petition your government to close them. It is your country is it not? Unfortunately even downsizing is met with local resistance due to job losses. There is no real reason for the EU to be toothless windbags. It wouldn't be easy but it could be done. I would love to see the US pull back and spend more time on Mexico etc. but I am in a very small minority and no government ever wants to reduce its own power.
"Please step into the courtroom Mr. Snowden."
"That's an airplane."
"Yeah"
I think he was being sarcastic.
I truly hope the EU decides to get rid of US bases as it will make it harder for the US to get into these ridiculous wars. As for American power, the problem is not that it is declining, the problem is that it is so far ahead that it is a joke. There is no balancing power. Yes China is growing but it is hardly a peer. The EU should really be the balancing force but it sure doesn't look likely.
Fine, then we can close all EU bases, save a ton of money and you can defend your own shipping routes, I'm sure you will be fine.
Hopefully this will make it easy for the US to stop paying for defense of the EU and spend that money at home.
