iPhone Mirroring is insanely well-implemented and it's a testament to what only Apple can do. Seamless integration of their products and every just works as you expect.

In a democracy, the government having this power ostensibly means the people have this power. If the corporations have power beyond the reach of the government, then it's not really a democracy.

Wow. I left my parent comment 2 minutes ago and this thread has already been removed from the front page.

Are we not allowed to discuss the actions of one of the largest tech companies?

This is quite an outlandish take. The safety of the aviation industry is by and large directly due to strict safety regulations, many of which Boeing pioneered before being taken over and financialized into the mess it is today.

New entrants in this industry need a ton of capital, made only worse by the monopoly suppliers in every single airframe sector. If anything, there needs to be more regulation to breakup these behemoths (or, prevent mergers like McDonnell Douglas and Boeing) in the first place.

If you’re really set on Android, I would buy a year old phone (so probably a “Pixel 7 Pro” if that’s a thing? Not sure when Google last changed their naming scheme).

A year old iPhone goes for maybe €100-200 less than the new model, but last year’s Android phone is now basically half price.

Our society has become one in which people feel licensed to give their selfishness free rein.

Americans reaping what they sow. What do you expect? The US is one of the most capitalist societies on earth. American propaganda over more than a century has built a culture which venerates the super wealthy and teaches deep hatred for the poor.

This worked to keep a small but important middle strata of workers in line but access to that class is harder and harder. If the system starts to fail for the majority of people, of course people are going to be angry! And American propaganda prevents little class solidarity or basic awareness of the exploitative system, so Americans channel that anger into hatred for one another.

What a massive waste of the limited carbon budget we have remaining as a species. The techno-optimists who think this is bootstrapping more humanity-serving missions (like a colony on Mars or the Moon) are lying to themselves. We are squeezing every last resource that makes Earth livable to enrich a few people short-term, but we will all suffer for this in the next few decades.
