YT Premium gives me a lot - YT is transformed when you don’t have ads, can have it playing in the background while on another app (there’s a Picture in Picture beta I’m using at the moment which works great). Also downloads and Music.

When you leave a job, voluntarily or not, it's amazing how long it takes for that job to leave your mental system. A year later I still find myself occasionally wondering whether a project went well or more recently after I left I'd still have the monthly work schedule in my mind. It requires discipline/distraction to free yourself!

Automation should be removed from the hiring process.

Companies can move faster because they don’t spend public money so have fewer rules to follow.

If we let USPS function in the same way Amazon does (eg scrapping unprofitable activity) you’d see changes but USPS is providing a service for the public good.

Plus arguably politicians don’t benefit from creating an amazing USPS though who knows why.

In case not obvious I’m living on my own - I can see that normal TV viewing is more of a communal/social thing.

Enjoyed reading this. As much as I feel guilty watching YouTube I do at least feel I am doing something slightly more proactive than watching legacy TV or streaming in that I’m having to search for stuff that solves a need for me at that time, or at least judge how effective the YT algorithm is. I’m lucky to have the BBC and value it as an impartial news organisation but I haven’t watched one of their (or ITV or others) programmes for at least 5 years, even on iPlayer. It’s all YouTube for me and I don’t begrudge the Premium subscription at all - it’s changed my life so much for the better.

Interviews have the benefit of appearing equal at least - everyone is asked exactly the same questions. Discussions might run the risk of appearing to give some people an easier ride than others.

I think something like 2.1 births per woman for a stable population not incl migration in/out. In the U.K. it’s 1.65 but I’m not too bothered.

Apple Maps in London UK is pretty bad with business info - I’ve had to make correction reports for a few things in my neighbourhood I never have to for Google Maps.

I agree but if 100,000 homes became available tomorrow in London they’d sell in an instant. I don’t think any number will solve it - the problem is existing homes not being lived in and being used as income.

It’s weird because I associate car ownership with wealth! I’m in my 40s in London in the UK earning an ok salary and neither me nor many of many friends have a car.

But politicians can (and should in my opinion) make car ownership less attractive.
