Anyone else read the title as "post-mortem text editor"?

If I need to query the db repeatedly (N times per second), isn't it more efficient (low latency and aws cost) to just download the db and run queries locally?

I got a Boox note air 2. It's an e-ink device/android tablet/e-reader/note-taking.

You can install any app on this device. I find it's acceptable to code with web-ides like replit.com. But my main usage is reading and note taking.

  1. I usually open about 30 to 50 tabs, and then my laptop becomes slow or it's difficult to navigate them.
  2. I decide to close some but find it difficult to choose which ones to close - they all seem important to me.
  3. I use onetab to close them all so if I need any of them I can get them back.

  1. Join a company (usually big) that has a culture of open sourcing softwares.
  2. Start an open source project you are keen on, and make use of the resource to grow the project/community/contributors.
  3. Quit with other core maintainers and start your own company that commercializes the open source project.

Got a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) weeks ago and bought a LG monitor (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YGZ7C1K). The brightness setting bothered me for 2 weeks as neither the Mac OSX nor LG's onscreen control software can set the brightness for the external monitor. The external monitor brightness changes every time I open/close the macbook lid. Thanks to both ddcctl and MonitorControl, I can finally set a fixed brightness. Wondering why big corps fail to provide the basic features while some open source software can do?

Can you elaborate on why YT for kids app is bad? Long time ago, I tried to develop a similar app (kidsfriend.ly) which provides safe videos from YT but failed to do so because it's impossible to control that Ads YT added during the watching.

Sad to see this. What happened to the "serverless containers", especially startups working on the idea? Months ago, Zeit.co gave up the idea of hosting containers and changed their direction to FaaS . Wondering if there is a technical reason (e.g. cost effective and scalable) behind both changes. On the other hand, big cloud vendors are all providing the serverless containers while the experience may not be as smooth as the startups provide.

It's nice to see that DynamoDB becomes truly serverless (although it lived under the serverless umbrella for a while) with this enhancement.

But I feel the on-demand mode should be best accompanied with the provisioned mode, which is the hybrid mode. So instead of using the laggy autoscaling to handle the burst traffic, using the on-demand capacity to serve that.
