The use of a passkey doesn’t require Authenticator or other OTP app. Gemini said that an OTP app can be used as a vault for the passkey, but it’s not the mechanism that permits the check of the private key. Rather, that’s the PIN or biometric. Now, perhaps I don’t understand your statement and you can clarify if that’s the case.

It just so happened that Microsoft sent an email today to our M365 tenant administrators that SMS and voice for 2FA is being removed 1-Feb-2027 and that automatic enrollment to passkeys starts 1-Sep-2026. Bring on the passkey overlords. Although, LLMs say that passkeys are superior to passwords since it includes a public/private key setup with the private key saved to a device that requires a PIN or biometric to access the private key.

Why is just having the web page loaded in a browser's (Firefox) tab ramping up the iGPU on my computer to 75%? The GPU load is consistently 75% whether I'm drawing or just have an untouched web page.

MS Edge has the same behavior with GPU loading regardless of drawing or not, but the GPU is at 50%.

For everyone referring to splitting with an axe and saying it’s hard, no wonder, everyone in the know uses a maul for splitting, not an axe.

If you don’t like it then you’re not the demographic they’re targeting. Let me say that I think it’s bland but I won’t say I don’t like it. The market they’re targeting is probably young and can’t afford it but those that can afford it will buy it to appear young, as if they belong to the demographic.

Does it use ChromeOS or Android? I read an unreliable comment in Reddit that Google may be forced to sell ChromeOS to satisfy antitrust lawsuit. The comment provided zero evidence for the conjecture.

The configuration with the AMD CPU is using the 8845HS which was released Dec-2023 whereas the configuration with the Intel CPU has the Ultra 9 285H which was released Jan-2025. Why such an old AMD CPU? The Intel has faster LPDDR5 RAM, 8400 MT/s vs 7400 MT/s.

From work, I have a Thinkpad X1 gen 13 and it's awesome. Super lightweight, and great power. But, when I tried Linux a few months ago its hardware was still too bleeding edge. Things may be better with kernel v7 on the way. I like the Gram as a personal device so may I know what model Gram you have?

Sure, stores use WiFi access points and BT to track MAC addresses and BT device IDs. Google does something similar with location and it provides in real time how busy a location is which I find super convenient. It’s a shame that shaping data into useful information also means it can weaponized.

The claim made in the blog is that real world data is locked to institutions. Examples are medical, insurance, and banking data.

That’s the opposite of my experience with Spanish as I found verb conjugation super formulaic and easy. Regardless, what I meant is that I can explain when and why subjunctive is used in Spanish but struggle with this in English.

I'm a native English speaker and taught myself Spanish. I focused heavily on grammar and verb conjugation such that I can explain verb tenses and their uses to someone else learning Spanish, yet I struggle to explain the same to an English learner. Either I didn't care enough to pay attention during my English courses or it's not taught.

The Oct-2025 National Geographic has an an article entitled How to age like an athlete. It has stories like that of Nora Langdon, 82 YO woman, that started powerlifting in her 60s. She set personal records in her 70s of 203lbs bench press, 381lbs dead lift, and 413lbs squat. Heavy exercise doesn’t appear to have negatively impacted lifespan in her or others in the article.
