Well yes. A teacher can have a box for phones, but kids need to put the phone there themselves. Of course, depends on the relation teacher has with their kids, but that's how you should do it by law.

And even then, if the teacher trips the box, it is on them to reimburse owners for broken phones.

But if kids refuse to put their phones away during classes, teachers have no right to take them since they are the kids' personal property. And yes, it is in the school rules that you cannot use your phone during class.

My SO teaches English and struggles with it permanently. Kids are on their phones and not paying attention to the lecture. And no support from the headmaster. Other teachers claim they do not have the problem to save face, but then you talk to an expat teacher who was in their class for observation and hear something else.

Couldn't you build some internal knowledge that would stay and you could teach a model this way. A very fast local memory of some sort. You could also specialize model this way so it is very skilled in your domain. The more you use it, the smarter it gets. I guess the problem is for the model to decide whether the information stored in memory is sufficient or not.

Other editors, at least, display a pop-up indicating that the file has changed on disk in the meantime and ask me if I want to reload the file or overwrite it with my current buffer, or do nothing (geany editor does that, for example). And it happens immediately as soon as I hover over the editor's window.

Interestingly, Zed displays the change right away for the first time, but any other edits are not picked up. I'm using Zed's installer, Zed updated to the latest version, no containers or virtual fs, my partitions are ext4.

One of the reasons why I'm not fully switching yet is a Zed's inability to update the currently open file with changes made elsewhere [1].

All the other editors I use are aware of outside changes, but not Zed. And I'm just not willing to close and reopen the file to get fresh contents. Eventually, I'll forget to do it and lose some work.

True. But you can also be smart about it, and it doesn't have to be something that takes your whole afternoon. 15 minutes of home exercise instead of media scrolling, and at the end of the week, it is 1:45, at the end of the month 7:45 that you've done something. Or just a simple door frame exercise bar where you do a pushup or two now and then. These small things add up. Or to go with friends to play football or my friend started to run, they made a Sunday morning running group. To end with what you've begun, regularity is the key.

LLMs have no understanding of the limited time of human nature. That's why what they produce is flat, lacking emotion, and the food they make sometimes tastes bland, missing those human touches, those final spices that make the food special.
