As an european I feel like 8-10 miles (13-16 km) is a rather long bike commute which would take at least 45 minutes on an ordinary bike. I ride my bike a lot and would occasionally do such a commute but most people aren’t willing to do that at all, sadly.

I have mine set to a red filter and assigned it to a double tap on the back gesture, which is a blessing at night in complete darkness!
Question is whether this could harvest enough energy to store it in a small battery to continuously provide power. But really sounds frightening if you change the setup of a few appliances and then suddenly half of your autonomously powered devices don't get enough power anymore because the noise is not high enough anymore.

How was it connected to them being demonstrators? Where their identities collected during protests but they weren't arrested? Article leaves that open.

Thanks, a quick search on the home brew page brought no guidance on how to configure these settings. I can't remember if this is in the .bashrc or in some other obscure config file, would be great to mention this if you recommend changing settings to your user base.

I think in the winter it would be fine to move heat from the lake to houses but in the summer it's worse. We're already having problems with lakes being too hot in the summer which results in evaporation, algae build-up and less oxygen. This also promotes invasive species.
Of course, the question is at what scale we can build such systems and if that would raise water temperatures significantly.

I'm very curious about the optical hand tracking as the main input. Yes, there's still a lot of progress in that area recently but the main problem remains: it gets really tiring to waive your hands around in front of you and there is no haptic feedback and very quick pressing of different buttons like on a controller.

Thank you for posting a different view on this topic. The comment section here feels very one-sided and makes me believe that people aren’t here to critically discuss all views. Honestly I feel very intimidated to write any comments that challenge the opinions here because of the imbalance.
I wonder how they implemented the force feedback for the weight perception. In this case it‘s not that difficult because they can use passive haptics/ a grounded haptic display. Nonetheless I‘d like to know how precisely the operator can feel weight.
This is really great because I could „install“ it on my pc at work which wouldn‘t let me install any actual downloadable software (not working there as a developer, just office stuff). It almost behaves like a real app, I only need to upload files to the app file system. Totally sufficient for running a small project and figuring things out in pandas or extracting things from a few CSVs. I tried replit.com before but the connection to the vm never really worked well enough, issuing commands took ages. Only other thing is writing PowerShell which I can run surprisingly but that’s far from the flexibility of Python.
But using tropes is not a bad thing in general, or what would you say? I think I kinda know what is low quality without looking at TV tropes beforehand.
Care to tell more about what you did with yours and where to start if you‘d want to install a Linux environment? Sounds like a great idea since these precious e-ink screens shouldn’t end up on a landfill yet!
I recommend using multiple locks. What is important is their usability: try to make sure that the lock can be attached to the frame and that it doesn‘t rattle, also needs to leave enough space for lock up your bike to things that are not the typical bike rack, like lamp posts. I still recommend U-Locks but they‘re so bulky and can seldomly be attached securely to the frame without rattling, so I ended up putting it into my panniers all the time. If you know that you will always commute to a bike rack that allows you to use one of the smaller, hand-sized U-locks, go for it. A folding lock is less secure but very flexible for locking up and often comes with a great, hassle-free frame mount. A cafe lock is not so secure either but is super quick to lock up. Having a complicated lock routine for a bike you can’t afford to have stolen makes you hesitant to stop for short errands or exploration trips by foot. So try to look out for quick, fun to use ways to add security barriers for thieves, because you essentially want to make it slow to break through those barriers and that it requires multiple different tools. Also, you can hide an AirTag or dedicated trackers in non-obvious places.

I think the difference is that the teacher already has the full knowledge and learning isn’t as easy as telling a secret once and then the learner can quickly parse it and keep it forever.
Despite that, I’d also prefer to proof I know a topic by writing an essay at home rather than under pressure within an hour under supervision.
