We have #1 and #2 open, #3 is taking 50% of the 'free space' shown. Is writing data in #1 or #2 have a roughly 50% chance of destroying data in #3 or does it known mapped blocks and the overwrite only happens once the actual free amount is used up?

Can you describe what you mean by plausible deniability if in your example you can prove from any of the individual Shufflecake volumes that there's X amount of data in the others?

3-volume Shufflecake setup with on a 100 gb device. I put 10 gigabytes into #1, 20 gigabytes in #2 and so in #3, I can only store 70 gb of data before I get I/O errors, which leaks that there's 30 gigabytes of data in the other volumes.

p2p leaks the 'metadata' of the network connections. It makes it trivial for someone to know that these two nodes are talking to each other. A goal of this, and other similar protocols, attempt to prevent that sort of metadata analysis.

If an issue can be automatically detected and remediated, do you really need a runbook? That space has to be huge. I don't see a purpose for documenting it.

That said, a tool that runs through existing runbooks and improves them or suggests new ones would be extremely useful IMHO.

Manager's entire job is to provide the organizational support and navigate the organizational challenges to allow the non-manager employees the space to do their job. When we talk about systemic organizational failures, managers are the ones that own that problem and are accountable for the failures.

Sure, on an individual basis, you have pockets of amazing managers that can't overcome organizational inertia. I feel for them as well, but when organizational failures come into play, I'm certainly taking more pity on the employees then the managers.

Because while the issues are serious and many, Boeing is still making extremely safe and working airplanes. It's impressive and shows that in general, things are going right. It doesn't excuse the decay and issues, but this isn't a case where everything they do is faulty. they're just held to an extremely high bar.

Boeing is made up of a lot of people, some who have done their absolute best. They don't deserve the failure that their leadership caused. I feel bad for Boeing employees, but I don't feel bad for their management.
