Since this is your first job out of school, this tip won't help you unfortunately.
In any case, it's good to keep a buffer of 6-months spending handy in savings (outside of retirement accounts, those should preferably NEVER be touched outside of TRUE emergencies). Having a buffer-fund, you will find, will keep your mind at ease and give you options to walk away from very toxic environments.

What was really horrible and downright ATROCIOUS was the Messenger (SMS) integration into Hangouts. I was jumping for joy when they freed SMS from Hangouts again recently.
Thanks for the excellent summary. I do feel I'm good at presenting ideas, hence this may be a role for me. I've mostly been at large corporations with boring stability and so wouldn't mind the pressure for a change. If it gets to be too much to handle, I could always switch back to being a developer.

My hunch is that if the company was different, it would lose. Like it or not, this is what's required to defeat our noble overlords a.k.a. the holy regulators and the munificent politicians.
Assuming automatically that the state stands outside the nature of man as a perfect institution with the ABILITY to 'correct' market outcomes. There's whole fields of literature examining this and most regulation falls far short.
Your mistake is to imagine that you have any power at all to affect such outcomes and processes. They will be guided by media/PR/social forces, not your arguments. I guess it's the universal democratic conceit of the 'we.'
If content regulations happen, they'll come in with the new flavor of the month, i.e. 'social justice.' There will be vague statutes against 'harassment' I'm guessing, and anyone decrying their vagueness or broadness will be decried a racist, sexist shitlord. You won't get 80's style 'Christian moralism' language in 2020.
