I really like the idea but the website provide almost no details about your solution. No idea also if you provide a free trial.

I have been building a device for another vertical, really old people, with a lot of similarities ( subscription base, come with a stand, used to be a samsung Galaxy tab A,webrtc video calls, etc.), its called LiNote https://linote.fr (website on french only)
Happy to talk if that might help, email me at anthony at linote dot fr.
I've asked the question to YC people before. There is no remote possibility. You are supposed to flight back and forth often.
Do you really need cofounders ? Can you start already and find someone later on ? I am a single founder and I spent a lots of time, money and energy because I had to find a cofounder because It s what successful startups do. I might not be successful yet :) but I have a profitable startup and I am still a single founder
As far as I understand, reaching PMF is the exception. But the PMF definition is so weak and inconsistant than people think they have when they dont or the other way around ( I tried to answer this question for my own company for weeks and I am still not sure )
Then scaling with PMF is okish. Scaling without is complicated as things doesnt stack up
You talk to people. Friends or friends of friends. No formal research. Then you try to reach similar people and learn more on the go. It takes time but if you succeed you both know your customers and a way to reach them
Hi Ben, kudos for building something you believe in.
My first impression is you have to talk to customers more and use face to face interviews. There is already a market for this kind of product so the issue might be: - bad targeting. Are you sure you talk to the right people? Who buy this kind of product ? Is the same people buying the product than the one using it ? - low reach. Conversions can be rare. Have you reached enough people ? - messaging. Do people really value your differenciation ? Do they understand your message? - price. Is it too expansive ? Not expansive enough to be credible - bad channel. How does the other company sell their product ? B2B sales ?
It seems to be you rely extensively on digital marketing to "talk" with prospects. Most of the time, one face to face can bring 10 times more info quickly.
I would also suggest to read the "Test Mom". You may have done customers interview the wrong way
I hope this help and wish you good luck
Thx for the suggestion. I will check with that.
None. I am technical startup founder.
My company just got break even so I live with the minimum wage possible but it's growing at a good pace.
Work life balance is both great and terrible. I work with my girlfriend. Our life is really flexible but we have customers calls every day. No days without a single call for the last 2 years. But I love what I do.
I use GoCardless for collecting payments. Airtable and a python script for billing.

Sorry for not being a native english speaker
Exactly what I needed, thanks a lot for that.
you can also use pdf2html with the option -x (to get xml). You would also have the position of each text tokens.
I've got a couple of stupid ideas. mine: http://www.stamplin.com - extract text from PDF, mine again: http://signup.mealthy.com - eat better
and lot's of other ones.
An idea is always stupid. Few iteration later, it starts to be not that bad.
We are looking for a way to do that but we haven't found any quick but accurate enough way to do that for the moment. I am confident we would find one day :)
We read scientific studies and extract a profile from them.
About adapting your profile, after now 40+ interviews it seems it would only work for really specific segment (like fitness addict) as it implies to much daily inputs.
We are trying to validate the concept before jumping on the dev as suggested by lean startup methodology. Unfortunately, that means doing the "marketing" and boring stuffs before the interesting technical bit. Therefore, that's only a kind of "show your interest" page, I agree.
Thanks for rising that. Let see if my new Show HN(https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6294623) will got a better audience after your post :)
Same here. I don't care about Snowden or anything related but I like to learn about any new libs, projects, startups...
our API is quite new and we understand it doesn't give an outstanding value for everybody as it target easy of use for the moment but next release is going to add more advanced things.
About us using your data, our privacy policy will clarify that.
fixed
Sorry that didn't work properly for you. We are working on improving our OCR results quality. Could you please send us at info@stamplin.com the file you used to get this useless result?
thx, I am gonna fix that
some langages might not have an appropriate library, some might want to not have heavy processes on their device (mobiles). We also think that's easier to use as there is nothing to install. That mainly depends on your case.
we think that's easier to integrate as there is nothing to install, nothing to maintain. We are also doing some pre/post processing which allow orientation detection for example. We also think that's might be useful for mobile as they are limited in resources. Also, on a PDF, we have an hybric way to perform both to not use slow OCR methods on easy to extract text but that's still quite a young product. New advanced features are coming.
