I’m down to 75% on my 13mini. I recently picked up a magsafe battery pack that gets me through the day when I’m traveling and can’t charge.
I was considering swapping out the phone battery but this is a better alternative for now.

Before I got my degree I was a machinist/ millwright and doing various things in between. Took a break after covid to go back for a little to decompress from tech but inevitably came back to programming.
Love the work but hate the pay and toll it took on my body.

I’ve worked with and known former engineers who left, took lower paying jobs in other industries and not one has ever said I miss it there.
Let’s not even get started on what that industry has evolved into with precision scheduled railroading and the dramatic increase in risk and real derailments that have followed.
All corporate or just expensive US based corporate employees? I didn’t see any specifics listed besides “pandemic era over hiring”. I think their talking points were pulled from an old 1pager this should have been “due to efficiency gains in AI”.

I can echo this statement. My mother is in a nursing home facility for the last 8 years.
She is located in the facility she worked in as a poor laborer before becoming a resident. The facility is over an hour from the nearest metro area.
The care she receives there is pretty good. The staff are mostly locals in the rural town and are comfortable being poor and living that life.
We considered moving her into the city to be close to family who have to drive almost 3 hours to see her but the care is so bad in the city it isn’t worth it.
We have had family members in city nursing homes and they’re abysmal. Which to some level I get. The people there like you stated are underpaid and overworked. They live in bad neighborhoods because of systemic poverty. They bring all the stress of being poor in a metro city with them to work. Quality of care plummets but there’s nothing that can be done because no one is going to pay more than bare minimum to reach mandatory staff minimums.

Counter point, I have a 2.25% fixed 30yr but am looking to sell in the next couple months.
Reason being I’m in a townhouse. They do not appreciate at the same rate as single family detached and it also carries an endlessly increasing hoa fee.
Due to the hoa increases it also limits how well a property can cash flow as a rental so keeping the property as an investment is doubly less attractive as often you can forgo rental income in lieu of asset appreciation.

A lot of armchair experts on here wrote him off when it was posted to hn.
I worked with a former locomotive engineer at the time who echoed the concerns reported here. He left the industry after about 10 years because of the grueling schedule and conditions.
It is interesting and alarming how it is essentially an open secret among industry workers that trains are run such that they are always in an elevated risk of derailment and danger.

I’m not but I’m also not terminally online. I’ve only recently had time to start playing around with chatgpt myself so I’m still enjoying the novelty of it and reading about others use cases and experiences.
This reads like a Mike Judge pitch. And some of the comments in here read like this guys burner accounts trying to make it sound like any part of this made sense. I really hope it’s all real because it makes the comedy of it all so much better.

I worked as a security guard in various locations and same thing, people would speak unfiltered and candid around me to others.

These books aren’t so much about how to write better but more so a look into the minds of two good authors. Helped me get over some of the hurdles of writing. Probably not very useful if you’re looking to be an improved work document writer but for creative writing they were great.
Space guide. When you and your billionaire friends and family go up to Bezos space cock orbiting facility you’ll need a full concierge and guides to show you around all the interesting bits you can observe from your temporary phallic residence.
Maniac is a great watch. Really hit some good dystopian/alternative future vibes.
