I would suggest trying a different harness. I only use OpenCode and haven't run into limits on even the $20 OpenAI plan. I will say that I use it more as an assistant and don't usually just say "hey go do this thing" without a plan broken down into tasks. With that being said, i don't think i have used even 50% of my 5 hour allotment, even when having it do everything.

So all that to say, maybe try other harnesses because it could just be a prompt issue in the harness.

I am also an unabashed opencode shill, so take that into account too.

To me it depends on the intended use:

- MCP - if you need discoverability. a great example for this is something like context7

- CLI/API + Skill: When you have a defined workflow you want to use. For me a good example of this is using the Linear GraphQL API instead of their MCP

I prefer the Linear API because, where I work, we have come up with our way of using the tool so I don't need the entire MCP to do what I need the agent to do. I think for most use cases an MCP is a waste of context.

This is really just boiled down to one thing and it has been the same thing for a very long time. Solve a problem people are willing to pay to have solved. The bigger the problem, the more money you will make. Bigger can mean either more widespread or more valuable.

The hard part is finding a problem and then the actual hard part is coming up with a solution that you can produce for cheaper than someone is willing to pay for it.

Don't get me wrong, this is a cool idea but the main complexity with DAGR is around the SAASM functionality which you can't do on a phone, at least not a publicly available one.

I also agree that you should be able to make a DAGR 2 that is much smaller and more powerful but it would always have to be a standalone device.

One idea where the compute is super front loaded would be to use your compute to generate data sets that you could sell. Burn through the $10k build the data sets, then selling them won't cost much in terms of cloud costs.

I also have zero idea on what type of data someone would be interested in buying but you never know.

Yeah i get that. I just hesitate to give any government even more power than they do now to silence people, which they would definitely use any law like that to do.

I will have to check that out, it sounds interesting. It was also pretty obvious how all the social media companies pushed the same narrative through COVID.

I don't like how these social networks and the media try to manipulate things but I don't think giving the government even more power will fix anything. It will probably make it worse. I think even if you had those laws on the books, you would still get manipulation through selective enforcement.

I think the only solution is education and individuals saying no to these platforms' and their algorithmic feeds. I think we are already seeing a growing movement towards people either not using social media or using it way less than they did previously. I know for me personally, I use X but only follow tech people i like and only look at the "following" tab. It is a much better experience than the "for you" tab

So i just made dinner and thought of this question. One thing the LLMs a very good at is "I have X, Y, Z ingredients. what can i make and how can i make it?" It has really helped me start to move more towards buying ingredients as opposed to processed crap.

The Anarchist Tool Chest. Its a book about hand tool woodworking and letting go of the notion that you need to buy every tool they make just to make something out of wood. The author espouses a lifestyle I think we all could do a better job of living. Which is basically own fewer, nicer things made by local artisans and craftsman.

I heard somebody on a YouTube video (wittworks) explain why things like woodworking and stuff speak to so many in our profession, "If you work with your mind, you need to rest with your hands". This book helped me unlock a hobby that helps me relax after being at a computer all day without thinking I need a 4000 sq ft wood shop and 10's of thousands of dollars.

If you go this route, major in electrical engineering, not computer engineering. you will get more out of it

I agree with that, I have just seen on here before that people think you can't regulate the electrical output of a nuclear plant like with more traditional ones.

That doesn't really support his rhetoric. He has always said that he doesn't like the trade deficit, which is a dumb idea, so increasing exports would go along the same vein as increasing tariffs to limit imports.

I think what would be more likely is the EU does something with it as a bargaining chip to reduce import tariffs rather than Trump trying to tax it out of existence.

And just to be clear Trump's trade policy is dumb and I don't support it.

nuclear plants can cut power as quickly as any other power plant, you are just controlling steam. divert the steam from the turbine and you aren't generating power anymore.

Something we are working on my team is an internal Astro Starlight site. It is all in markdown so if your team is backend focused, the can still maintain it, and then all the docs are markdown files that are tracked with git. Comes with basic search already built in too.

So far we like the idea of this approach but haven't fully set it up yet

I personally prefer the terminal based approaches over the IDE integrations. So my recommendation are:

- Use OpenCode if you want to experiment with different models, if not just use Claude Code

- Use Git to your advantage. Always start a prompt on a fresh commit. This will make it easier to see everything that was changed and makes it very easy to undo all the changes and start over.

I think ICANN just needs to make a rule that basically says if a country's domain is being used as a general domain (i.e. ai, tv, io, etc), it becomes a general domain if the country no longer exists or needs the domain (like a name change).

This feels like an issue that is only an issue because of a hardline that should just be a general convention.

I downloaded Zed when it took way too long for VS Code to load the monorepo at work. It took almost as long for me to download and install Zed and then open the monorepo as it did for VS Code to load the monorepo. I think the was a fluke with VS Code as it didn't normally take this long but it did happen often enough to be annoying.

I also find Zed to be snappier than VS Code. It's hard to quantify but it just feels better to use Zed.

For reference, I mainly work on a Node/Typescript monorepo that is made up of a bunch of serverless services and is deployed with SST v2

I asked them about this on X and they are working on one. I use Zed for everything now but must keep VS Code around just for the debugger. I can't wait to delete it.

Watch Nomad Capitalist on YouTube. He has good advice on how to get started. Most of his advice is for rich people but he also has good advice for normies.

I just had an idea that is a shot in the dark but you could try cold calling large companies with complicated SDKs to see if they will pay you a large monthly fee in exchange for exercism hosting a tutorial they create for their SDK.

You already have the sandbox and the support for the most popular languages.

It may take some development to build out the feature but you probably wouldn't need too many to sign on to cover your costs and you could still leave your core offering free.

From watching the YC videos on YouTube, it seems like they don't have rules as much as tendencies and guidelines, other than building a VC-backed company vs bootstrapping.

So I think the advice you would get from them is to apply and if you get an interview, make sure you can make a compelling case that you could still succeed without your Uncle being on board full-time.

It seems like their general guidance is "When in doubt apply".

SST, you can have your backend logic and infrastructure all in Typescript. If you want to use a different runtime for your serverless functions, you can. you can also define your frontend in the same project and deploy the whole thing with one command.

For personal stuff this is great because you can run everything you need for next to nothing. For commercial stuff, it would depend on the use case. If you are going to be handling a bunch of requests or have to do a large amount of processing, you may want to go a different direction, as is the case with all serverless applications.
