Same thing has happened to me with Siri. It's absolutely garbage.

For years, I've said "Hey Siri, turn on Bright" because I have a "Bright" Home scene configured. About 2 months ago, the HomePod updated and now responds consistently with "Pause in the bedroom?"

Nothing is playing in the Bedroom. Nothing CAN play in the bedroom, there's just lights in the Bedroom. No speakers. What the heck is it even _trying_ to pause.

It's infuriating.

The Model S and X both have two screens -- one behind the steering wheel, and one in a portrait orientation to the right of the driver. The Model 3 and Y are the ones that have only a single screen to the right of the driver in a landscape orientation.

The app does talk directly to the car, when you're in range of Bluetooth. That's how the phone key functions, all handoff and communications are done via bluetooth, not the internet when the devices are in range. Even with my phone in airplane mode (WiFi/Cellular disabled), and only Bluetooth on, I'm still able to unlock/lock the car, drive, and open the frunk/trunk.

Just because you don't know anyone that uses Snapchat doesn't make that an authoritative source on popularity of a company. Snap's user base has grown consistently and show's no signs of slowing down, even against increase competition in the space (https://www.statista.com/statistics/545967/snapchat-app-dau/). TikTok is the "Vine replacement" since Vine was bought by Twitter and shutdown. Vine wasn't a "fad" that faded away, it was actively shutdown by its parent company, likely would still exist to this day in a non-insignificant way had that not happen.

That's the thing, the rules aren't clearly defined, and aren't universally equally enforced and thinking that they are is naive. I've had numerous apps launch without question, then in a subsequent update have gotten rejected for stipulations in the App Store guidelines that I honestly don't remember reading, only to appeal and have the appeal succeed and my update be approved. It is, and always has been, up to the reviewer you get as soon as you get passed the automated binary checks.

So Tesla isn't approaching this as a hackathon project, they've partnered with one of the biggest medical manufacturers who no doubt are offering their resources and expertise in this field, something Tesla obviously has none of which shows that they're trying to prove their serious about helping out

According to Hidden Figures (which to the best of my knowledge is quite accurate in representing Katherine Johnson), she actually hand checked most if not every calculation performed by the digital computers and often found miscalculations due to programming errors.

Their head of AI talked about this during their AI Investor Day and he said that even when the road is entirely covered, there is still enough subtle clues for the neural net to pick up on that it will be possible to have a self-driving car in the snow. Just like how humans are able to observe the edge of the road (enough) to slowly drive to their destination, the car will pick up and learn from those clues too eventually.

Can confirm: There is an overlay that appears which asks whether you consent to collection of video (only from the 7 outside cameras -- there is one facing the interior but it doesn't include that), and telemetry / GPS data for autopilot training and sentry mode training. If you don't agree, I'm assuming your car will not be used for the fleet learning since they can't gather any telemetry. I do believe that critical logging w/o user-data(?) (aka drive system failure, MCU crashes, etc) is still enabled independently && regardlessly of the data collection for AI toggle.

In the "FSD Preview" update that came out around Christmas time, the car now shows a bunch of symbols on the road, and signs (aka stop signs) that it recognizes. They don't flicker at all, even while you're driving and a large truck obscures the car's vision of the sign / stoplight. So they likely have started to enable some form of temporal memory into the system so that it remembers what it has observed in the environment both frame-to-frame and overall.

Karpathy (their Head of AI) showed how they are able to generate a 3D depth map of an environment given 2 forward-facing stereo cameras, it's possible that's what the car is attempting to do here since it recognizes that part of its vision will be blocked once it stops moving. Or it's trying to avoid the puddle lol.

I wonder if they cut the presentation a little short because of the glass issue . Then again, Musk isn't exactly the greatest presenter so I don't think he could play off someone talking in his ear to cut it short.

I agree. Usually Slack's support is wonderful. But with this awful WYSIWYG input debacle, their support has been... subpar. A whole lot of non-answers and dismissive "we're collecting user feedback".

Agreed. I'm happy that my Tesla doesn't have CarPlay. I don't need my messages showing up on screen or constantly being read to me, I use driving time to decompress after a day of being social with my coworkers.

Well we already know Tesla (RoboTaxi) and Google (Waymo One) are entering the ride sharing market (Waymo One is currently live), not sure about GM's ambitions.
