I merely pointed out / defended the realism od the comment I replied to. The definition is not and never should be the "hobbies". It's just something you find interesting which brings the parity to you and the other person. not necessarily a hobby and could be of anything.. Hobby is just a common way suggested to find people and then, only then, you get a change to know whether they are interesting.

I've felt the same after reading the same but I believe op tries just to point out that when you're the best version of yourselves, by removing the common denominator of bad versions, you'll be noticed more and that presents an interesting way for people to present a chance themselves to hear/see you. From there you get to go and may be, may be you find yourselves with a good friend. More importantly,Ithe confidence you'll get out of this is immense and you'll feel peace spending time for yourselves instead of feeling bad about having all the time and don't have anyone to spend with.. I cant say this advice helped me 100% but atleast it helped reduce the biased stress you put on yourselves.

agreed, I guess we'll be seeing some pushbacks similar to Apple's CSAM but overall it's about getting a better demographics on their consumers for better advertising especially when you have a one-click actions combined with it. We'll be seeing handful of middleware plugins (like Honey) popping up, which I think the intended usecase for something like chat based apps

This thread has an utmost importance among other few HN threads and I couldn't grasp why this hasn't gained much traction yet. Our focus should be developing tools that supports the sharing/communication of the people/repositories of information spread across multiple places and accessible (the very meaning of internet, since www days). Totally worth noting the internet is "Too big to fail" yet the purpose should not be diverging on how to not only restore but to connect when/if it fails to.

Unsurprisingly accurate to most of the sites I visit. One extra thing is, the page load times and the slowness in loding the page or added content which will displace the buttons/header links I'd want to click resulting in a misplaced click :)

This seems a cool idea. Few things comes first to mind is to have a paid feeds for reuters / near real time news feeds, paid AMA interactions (Only fans model but for AMA) and paid forums (communities). But all of the above are already matured and has a different apps that satisfy the needs in a vast manner. So twitter could only be providing a intermediate between the user and a service.

Instead of delivering a message once a month/ week you could make the conversation/reply once a month. The key here is to skip the transactional nature of the conversations that are happening around us. Because of the availability of IMs we tend to write back to back questions/texts and waiting only seconds to get a reply.
