me, personally, i think you did a hell of a job with this. personally i'm not going to be sharing any launch codes with my spouse, so i could care less about how industry standard and unbreakable the encryption is, but for account based credentials like netflix and spotify, this is great.

honestly... how was this even a thing? i never got the appeal or the concept to wanting to watch my own TV from a device. i mean... do people actually miss their local programming that much when they are away?

no... everything is moving to streaming now so there is a big push to make sure that there is a single portal to consume content.

google dorking or using shodan can find things like this extremely easily. personally i don't do this sort of crap cause i don't need any legal problems, but it's good to know so you can do it against your own sites to see if you're exposing anything by accident like these dudes did.

it looks like they have already taken the source code down, which sucks cause i would have LOVED to look at it. github has some of the smartest developers in the world working for them and i would love to pour over the code and see the thought process involved in creating the github backend.

it costs money and time to fight something and companies have something called a risk management department that decides whether it is worth the risk to fight or comply.

github knows that getting into a heated legal battle is going to cost alot, especially going up against the deep pockets of the RIAA. not saying that github and microsoft don't have deep pockets, but that this _will_ become an expensive battle to fight and defending a grey area open source project isn't worth the time nor the money.

either cancel the card you used, call the bank and have them disallow the charge to the card or issue a charge back. don't ever feel that a company leaves you no choice in paying them.

that's the key to this whole things, is that you have to stick with it for at least 4 weeks. i know quite a few people who have tried IF and rarely do they make it through the first week without cheating (including myself when i first started). IF is one of _the_ best ways to lost weight in my opinion (second only to hot yoga), but the key is that you have to very regime with it and follow it precisely in order to get the benefits. you cannot have _any_ calories what so ever in order to trigger the fast response of the body. even taking vitamins or protein powders breaks the fast. also most non-calorie drinks do contain calories just not in a single serving (which is VERY deceptive), so the best things to drink is just plain cold water through out the day.

this is where rubymine really shines, you can right click and select "goto definition" which takes you right to the class that defines the method.

laravel is so similar to rails, it's scary. tbh... all mvc frameworks are similar. once you know one, it's extremely easy to pick up another one even if you don't know the language.

the point i was trying to make is that it for any reason, the case can be delayed in getting to court. i've personally seen cases take 10 years to finally get to court only to have the case dismissed.

i'll go even further... the other thing about it is that the owner has to have the money is order to bring the lawsuit to court. also, depending on how backed up the courts are, it could be years before the case brought into court by which time the owner could be out of business.

it really is horrible how screwed up our civil court system is.

this was inevitable giving the climate switch to streaming services. right now the riaa wants to protect the streaming services at all costs since physical media consumption is decreasing, especially with all the store fronts closing cause of the pandemic.

yes you can... which is why i gave you links to a couple of sites for activities you can do outside without involving groups. you can do geocaching or weird exploring with just you and your partner. wear a mask, bring some hand-sanitizer (especially if you're geocaching), bug repellant (again... especially if you're geocaching) and enjoy the out doors.

get out from behind the keyboard and go the f*ck outside and explore the world for the next 3 weeks. seriously... there is more to life than programming the next great thing and 3 weeks is a long time in this life. you might find your soul mate in the next 3 week.

i totally agree with you, however the specific tests that the DCMA complaint is referring to is testing that the program circumvents protection to make sure the program can download specific copyrighted videos.

you can cite whatever it is you want, the fact of the matter is, that those test cases are going to seal their doom. any lawyer worth their salt can use those as evidence of them writing specific code to target and bypass security protections so they can download copyrighted works.

i can guarantee within the upcoming weeks we will see a lawsuit filed against everyone involved in youtube-dl... and guess what, they are going to lose that case.

bottom line... they are still downloading and copying the file, regardless of what for or how much which is exactly what the RIAA is claiming. you can cite whatever it is you want, the fact is that youtube-dl is DEAD wrong in what they are doing.

no it's not. intent is also taken into account of fair use and the intent of those test cases is to make sure their program gets around a specific counter measures youtube as put into place so people cannot directly download the media and are forced to stream it.
