This posting and the description both say remote, but the job description also says "Because we are a Minnesota-based company, we are currently limiting our search to Minnesota residents (or people willing to relocate there)."

You only hire remotely in Minnesota?

I spent a few years running my own startup and helping get another startup going as one of the first employees (we went from 3 employees to almost 40). A lot of my time went into finding pricing for various services, which is a huge waste when there's so much to do at an early stage or growing startup. I didn't want to spend time on demos and phone calls just to find out it was out of my budget.

ClearPrice will let you know right way whether or not it's worth using that time talking to a salesperson or going through a demo. You'll also know if you're paying a fair price for the service you're getting by letting you see what other companies your size are paying.

I did not have a simple experience with React. I did front end development for years, ending with jQuery-driven AJAX sites pulling from REST APIs (2013), and when I tried to learn React this year it was all voodoo.

Is there a good tutorial out there for lapsed front-end devs?

Job Description New Matter is looking for an engineer to lead the development of the back end of an exciting new 3D printing marketplace that’s tightly integrated with our 3D printer. We’re very early so you really get to own this piece of the product.

You’ll lead the development and maintenance of our system architecture. You’ll also work closely with the lead back end engineer to develop an API that talks to both our marketplace as well as our printers. Being self-driven is important since the team is small and we want to build an ambitious product quickly.

• Experience with various relational/non-relational database technologies (Oracle/MySQL/PostgreSQL/NoSQLs).

* Senior Software Engineer - Back End *

We're looking for an engineer to lead the development of the back end of the 3D printing marketplace that’s tightly integrated with our 3D printer. We’re very early so you really get to own this piece of the product. You’ll work closely with product, front end engineers, mobile engineers, and firmware engineers to develop an API that talks to both our marketplace as well as our printers. Being self-driven is important since the team is small and we want to build an ambitious product quickly.

Preferably Ruby/Rails, but we are early enough that you can pretty much build it out the way you want. You should have strong experience developing large-scale web applications and experience designing and building REST APIs.

* Senior Software Engineer - Front End *

We are also looking for engineer to lead the development of the front end of the marketplace. We’re very early so you really get to own this piece of the product. You’ll work closely with product and design to implement the best possible user experience across both desktop and mobile.

An ideal candidate would be up to date on current best practices for developing complex user interfaces, including front end frameworks and communicating with REST APIs. Being self-driven is important since the team is small and we want to build an ambitious product quickly. You should have strong experience developing large-scale web applications (desktop and mobile web), experience with modern web frameworks (such as Backbone, Angular, Ember, etc), experience working with REST APIs, and, obviously, experience with and extensive knowledge of web technologies (HTML5/CSS3/Javascript). Major plus if you consider yourself a full-stack developer (ie, you know how to integrate the front end with the back end)

* Other positions *

We don't have formal job descriptions written yet, but if you are a desktop software or firmware engineer, please get in touch with us.
