Fable 5 would not allow this post due cyber sec risks

Exactly that’s what he wants and then there will be a loophole to close: open source models.
That’s really what Dario wants. Let’s hope he doesn’t get it
Ok I may agree with this. Instead to ban it we should nerf it to the point it’s useless.
Let’s ban this before it gets too powerful !
You can’t ignore their continuous PR on banning open models and regulating everything AI. With Fable we also see how they want it to work: store the data indefinitely (30 days or more) and put restrictions on everything “dangerous” (I.e AI, IT security, biology physics ). I am pretty sure they would want to give specific access on different companies/entities and on differential pricing(I.e use regulatory to inflate their prices)
We’ve also seen how bad that works in practice(I.e making the AI useless for a lot of stuff including programming and Sysadmin ).
It would be okay if they just do their own thing but this Dario guy wants to enforce that enshitification of the whole industry. And that’s not OK because they have money now, power and influence.
I hope the gov will put breaks on Anthropic and regulate them just the way they wanted. The next best thing would be to ask them put restrictions on Opus as they did on Fable
Dario will start complaining again hoping they will be banned. Let’s hope this guy is flushed out asap
It has been clear but it was never enforced. Now EU and UK was placed on the same level as China.
No, Dario became too tiresome and annoying that someone had to do something. Personally I hope they ban Opus too. It will only provide more support for open models development. Compare Dario horror posts with this from GLM release: “ Intelligence should be open, accessible, and ready to build with, empowering every developer, everywhere.”
I don’t see it as good PR for Anthropic at all. They did a lot of PR in that direction but now it backfired.
People/gov now think twice about relying on US ai products. I don’t think the investors are very happy with the place this landed either.
I think the right move for Europe and other countries would be to effectively ban US tech and follow the Chinese response to Nvidia (delivered personally to Trump: we want to build our own AI chips).
I think this is the beginning of the end of US tech dominance. That being said I personally was not impressed with Fable at all. Apart from burning tokens like there was no tomorrow it behaved like Opus 4.8 and produced more or less the same output. In practice I think it was hard to use due the safety restrictions. With the shadow slop injector it was basically DOA but they changed that policy so at least it still had a chance.
Let’s stop posting on HN before it’s too late. The next “Show HN” will be too dangerous for the world. - Dario Amodei, Anthropic CEO.
Fable 5 was a flop so I doubt Fable 6 will make it on the short list
You start to wonder if that’s a good place to be present
You can call it Secure-Email or RFC-99999
To have secure email I think html /css should be dropped from email support and the inbox should work on an invite only basis. Basically you should pre-authorize the senders just like you add someone as friend on a social network.
There are very rarely original ideas or original products. It’s more about money put into that idea and the marketing. You could say that Apple copies and imitates just like the chinese. After all they wait for the others to pour money into the ideas and they just deliver a polished experience on top of the hard work others did. Yet people don’t accuse them of being imitators.I think people are mad at the Chinese because they do it for cheap and at an industrial scale on so many products/industries(i.e even food). To me they are a force for good competition.
What does it sound so familiar with some US business models? I mean all the big tech does exactly that plus Uber (if you call it a tech company)
As we’ve seen with Fable, Mythos is more of a hype myth to justify the data retention and restrictions they added. Otherwise it’s just an incremental update of Opus. I can’t really say upgrade because the restrictions makes it a downgrade
Mythos is at best an incremental upgrade of opus. The hype and PR was there just to justify the “safety guards”. Overall the Fable is a worse model than opus considering all the restrictions and risks not to mention the data retention policy.
There is no middle ground to shadow bans while getting your hard earned cash. It is fraud/Nigerian scam
This is DOA. Claude will refuse to work on anything there or better just bankrupt the funding members while delivering slop(on purpose to doge their cyber operations )
Whatever retention policy they have it will be honoured the same way they comply with DMCA laws(I.e if we’ve got it it’s ours to train/use)
Can I just say fuck JavaScript so we can stop mentioning this time and time again ?
This what that Anthropic CEO has been cooking all the time with his safety BS.
It’s great we are past the “wasm is not replacing JavaScript” phase. Or “you don’t need DOM for wasm . That’s what JavaScript is for”
They will give you s*t output, that’s how they deal with it. And say that less than 1% of the requests were affected. Think of this like a kind of shadow ban while you still pay top $.
So the enshitification started. Shadow “bans” while still charging you the same service fee. I already got the stupid cyber warnings on a non cybersecurity tasks.
Basically in the middle of the project’s /goal while Fable itself tried to probe qemu for a Debian ISO install without any instruction from me to hack it or do anything nefarious.
At this point I can’t trust them with any kind of prompt . It will most likely degrade in stupid ways on non AI/ML stuff as well due its own internal prompt construction.(the qemu test showed me it does that on cyber stuff). So I guess I have to still use opus 4.8 (along with codex) and when the right time comes drop Anthropic in favor the best model that is not gpt.
This guy can’t stay a day without posting something more or less “ban open source AI”. We keep you safe
I guess the Russians will have to learn the Chinese way and perhaps the Chinese language as well?
