What happens if it's a datamining third party bot? That can check your social media accounts, create an in-depth profile on you, every image, video, post you've made has been recorded and understood. It knows everything about you, every product you use, where you have been, what you like, what you hate, everything packaged and ready to be sold to an advertiser, or the government, etc.

I was thinking about this a while back, once AI is able to analyze video, images and text and do so cheap & efficiently. It's game over for privacy, like completely. Right now massive corps have tons of data on us, but they can't really piece it together and understand everything. With powerful AI every aspect of your digital life can be understood. The potential here is insane, it can be used for so many different things good and bad. But I bet it will be used to sell more targeted goods and services.

Perfect blend of nostalgia, aesthetics, gameplay, simplicity not to mention that id software releasing everything open source at the end has continued development and created a massive amount of third party content, mods, etc. The same applies to Doom, Duke Nukem and to a lesser extent a few other older fps games.

In my opinion, if consciousness turns out to be anti-material meaning after years and years we cannot replicate or find any model to explain it. Then we have to assume that it is contained outside of the "system" which could only mean that the world is built around consciousness and everything else is a dream or simulation.

However I don't actually believe this, just an idea. I think consciousness is probably much more simpler than we think, if you look at evolution it developed very quickly compared to other things.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I feel like the free domains are unreliable and have weird conditions. I also I think it's been said before some of the sites offering them are suspect: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27951785

I was just thinking for personal projects & game servers, would be nice to have a bunch of cheap domains one could use.

Seven.zip 3 years ago

True but I was thinking more like a $1-3 domain for servers and what not

I see around $10 for .org on Cloudflare, .win seems to be $3.16

Do prices change a lot?

That's cool, but I feel like .zip might get caught by spam protection so not the best choice for sending in discord/email/chat etc

Speaking of domain names, what is the best option for the cheapest possible domain tld (including renewal), maybe something you can even get for 10 years and save a ton? Also would be nice if it had free whois? Extension doesn't matter as this would be for personal use. Is it still xyz or ovh?

People are reporting a new message saying adblockers are not allowed on YouTube.

Not a very convincing argument, your gizmo sliders and checkboxes or whatever aren't going to replace chatbots but only slightly extend them and really aren't needed if AI gets better over time.

Some neural connection to the brain that will interpret your thoughts is the only logical thing that will supersede chat ai, but that won't happen for a while. Maybe a connection to all your data will happen first so the AI will better understand what type of person you are and what you want, that's already probably happening based on past responses.

I just noticed they improved the pricing a lot since last time I checked.

Before you had free, 10k a month & $22 a month for 60k, now they added $5 a month for 30k and $22 a month for 100k.

Attribution for free is pointless, as with custom voices in theory it would be hard to detect and enforce anyways.

The reason why ElevenLabs is so good is not because of the default voices, it's because it's so easy to train new voices. You only need a minute or two of someone speaking and it can mimic the voice pretty well, good enough to fool most people.

However their pricing is completely wrong, should be cheaper and offer more.

The site doesn't seem to work, says "Wrong secret word" for hackernews.

Is there a list of pages people have made?

So with out src & href you can't have links, seem like a massive limitation. Was trying to a submit a personal site with external links, guess it's no use now.

I completely agree, this absolutely horrendous for a visual presentation. A wii like character, no proper lighting, floating with no legs and the subtle fidget moving of the limbs, lack of facial expression and flapping mouth that hardly mimics the sound. What did facebook spend all their money on?

I'd rather see video or even a still picture of Carmack than this monstrosity.

I received a call one time with a SOB story about someone locked out of their yahoo email account with my phone number, which I've had for over a decade. In the back I could hear people talking, person had a thick accent from a country known to scam people. I knew it was a scam so I started probing more and they finally hung up.

It is a super bad idea for anyone to give out 2FA codes, they could easily found your email associated with a specific number from a security leak and attempt to steal it.

This entire concept of AI learning using copyrighted works is going to be really tested in courts at some point, perhaps very soon, if not already.

However if the result is adequately different, I don't see how it is different from someone viewing other's work and then being "inspired" and creating something new. If you think about it the vast majority of things are built on top of existing ideas.
