I use TranscriptionSuite, which is focused on offline transcription, and supports Parakeet as well as whisper and others (https://github.com/homelab-00/TranscriptionSuite) The dev was sweet enough to improve the live mode GUI so that I and some friends can use it when playing on Chinese mmo servers.

I use Systran/faster-whisper-medium for real-time subtitling, but you need to get used to the context it's used it and the weirdness it translates into. Parakeet has great mandarin>CN text, but running that + a translation model has been tricky and I never got it fast.

I've been using OBS on wayland, they got captures working really well a few years ago.

But for VR stuff I've been going back to X11, and I was just last night trying to finish a screen capture program on wayland (w/ kde plasma) and idk I just have to do repeated screenshots ana analyze those > horrible fps, but at least I think I got that working finally after many attempts last year.

I like this a lot. I've been fascinated by Suzuki Toshitakas work on mapping bird sounds to syntax and want to experiment in that space too.

Ive been assisting at a wild bird rehab but not until I got pet birds (released pet birds that no owner could be found for) did I realize they make these extremely faint sounds to each other that I can sometimes just barely make out when I'm right next to them but are not the other quiet humming they make.

My mic can capture those sounds sometimes, but I don't know how to analyze for example 24h of recording in the cage to find slight variations to background noise. It doesn't have to be real-time and not bird specific (want to capture sounds they make that doesn't register as bird in the models).

If anyone has a suggestion please point me in any direction you know of. Audio is pretty new for me.

Yeah, but I guess harder for the professor to check up on too. It's a course on a specific kind of creative writing so human feedback would be QUITE helpful instead of AI responses about how good parts are.

Taking a distance uni class now to maybe swap away from dev work and my submitted works that are to be reviewed and commented on by other students all come back with AI generated feedback and it's making me go insane. If I needed AI feedback I'd go ask an AI but for any communication now it's a cointoss if you're getting a human reply.

Had a very similar one, I wasn't working frontend but had a dream about a frontend vulnerability that also proved to be true. I dreamed about it, and assume it was because it's the kind of thing that bugs me and while dreaming I had some time to think about things other than the code at hand.

The difference might be there in regards to Iran, with it's global market impact. But it's not there in regards to human life or suffering. That was made _very_ clear during the electoral campaign. But now it's _very different_ because it's "them" doing it and we can say we were always against this.

We have to say "us good, them bad" because we're voting the same way next time, and we're not planning to vote for something bad, right?
