Sorry to break it to you but that's simply not going to happen (at least anytime soon). Why not direct your effort at improving the language instead?
Edit: I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but I just want to know what your reasons would be to see it die rather than be improved.
For those wondering about startups using Perl for a large part of their codebase, DuckDuckGo is certainly one. There maybe others too but mostly it's for server side scripting.

Which part made you uncomfortable? The fact that his wife was cooking for their family or that he had eight kids?
At this point I don't even know what will convince me that stuff like this that Google releases isn't yet another dead-in-a-year product. We've seen a number of great service being killed just in the past few months alone. What makes this any different?
My only advice to kids is: don't make this something you depend on. Remember if you aren't paying for it, you're the product, and Google could care less about you and your silly needs when it comes time for some Spring Cleaning™.
You can think of loads of reasons, but you haven't given any. Being assassinated young is probably the only thing most people know about JFK. It isn't rocket science to figure out that most people would see him as a sort of martyr because of it.
