I'm an amateur so it influences my setup a lot, but Opus 4.8 above 250k context in my experience with planning and implementing its own plans gets much dumber than fresh Sonnet 5, to the point of forgetting / ignoring things in the last prompt, forgetting half of the convention for the (very small and simple) codebase, etc.

As to why people do install such software? It sometimes provides additional features, controls and settings. For example with touchpad you could set the sensitivity, hot corners, set the scroll behaviour the way you like it, etc.

With monitors you might get a better colour profile (P3 instead of just sRGB), I don't know. I don't use monitors like this.

Look, I'm a citizen of the EU country and my country's physical ID holds electronic layer containing private keys I can use to remotely sign stuff or authenticate myself. It also allows me to using a digital only ID, and the app ecosystem around that is truly amazing. And I'm a picky one.

Basically it's everything, along with basically every single one European physical ID with electronic layer built-in.

British digital ID was *nothing' of that. If it was a physical smartcard first, optional and not mandatory, I'd probably support it, but the government messaging about that was full of lies and handwaving, especially when people were bringing up the failures of digital only systems like Settled Status for Europeans. Nothing mattered, steamrolling over arguments with soundbites.

No, long story short: no, digital IDs are NOT mandatory and no, employment fraud is not that widespread, and the new system won't fix the employers skirting the law.

The UK has a digital ID requirement which is required for you to be employed in the UK.

That's untrue.

There was a strong push towards the digital ID from the current administration, but it was abandoned 6 months ago.

What you likely mixed up with digital ID is the old digital visa scheme, mandatory for all non-UK citizens to prove right to work.

Re: your app list: looks a little bit eclectic, so it's worth mentioning most of the apps don't ban GoS specifically, but enforce Google play strong or device integrity pass, which GoS doesn't pass.

Some trip on some exploit protections, like secure app spawning, but these can be turned off per app in the latest releases based on Android 17.

Since it seems to be missed, in GOS you can disable these alerts completely.

I use Claude to build me a small web app I needed for ages, I'm using its superpowers to discuss/talk about architecture /brainstorm/build plans, and always a fresh context with the built plans.

A few times the plan implementer (subagent writing a code assigned to the task) found something lacking (more often it was test issue related to the code, not the actual flaw of the implementation plan), fixed it on the fly, or found something in the review (last step of each task). Also there's always a technical review for each "slice" (set of tasks), consisting of code review and e2e tests.

Only when it passes I do the fresh code review of the changes with the Opus or Fable again. Happens rarely rarely, but it did found a few issues.

Code works every time, I have yet to find the fault myself.

Of course there are issues and I need to read the output especially in the planning phase very carefully and yes, Opus disappointed me many times trying to weasel out from something it "agreed with me" (and entered into architecture + todos)...

Of course right after agreeing to use devcontainers it proceeded to attempt installing a handful of node modules in my os, so intended up running it in the bwrap (pain in the ass in itself).

But it works, it's fascinating, and I have the app I actually needed.

Looks like the GP is in the UK.

I tried to go private (also not 50), but everyone just refused. Pharmacy, GP, private GP.

Currently I'm arranging it in the third country because WTAF.
