An LLM doesn't do anything on its own. One needs to make the choice to build something, make choices about how it's built, and make decisions on how it should work. The LLM makes the output of those decisions, but in the end it's just one of the tools that was used to make a part of the system that was built.

Because it's not a widespread phenomenon. A few large tech cos laid off large swaths of people a handful of times. That's only happening in those large tech cos. Most cos are empowering their employees with AI as a tool, not a replacement, and they're not letting anyone go (unless they refuse to use this new tool).

Of course, they're not hiring as much either, since their current teams can accomplish more with AI as a tool. Maybe the AI companies could give job seekers a bit of a discount, but that would be abused to all hell without crazy administrative overhead costs, so why would they?

It's still a shade of gray to me. If I offered some homegrown cloud storage to my friends, and one of them uploaded CSAM to it, you can bet your ass that I would be arrested for it.

I'd wager that number isn't so different from previous generations, but it's just not as taboo to admit it nowadays.

The perfected, generated, prompted resume is generic and impersonal. It tells me nothing about this person, other than that they use particular tools.

Considering many companies are adding AI-proficiency to their hiring metrics, maybe these folks are onto something. It won't be long before AI is doing the resume shuffling and interviewing, so these candidates will be more an more relatable to the interviewer.

Rarely? Almost everyone I know that has art hanging in their homes, that they bought because the liked it, couldn't tell me thing one about the artist behind any of it.

Ehh, I'm not so sure. I've never been creative. I've always been good at creating, but it's more recreating, since I hardly ever have any original ideas. Whereas my creative friends seem to have a never ending spigot of ideas. But I do really appreciate the creativity of others. I guess out of wanting what I don't have.

They're clearly communicating that they believe in a future where no one owns games any more.

They've been foreshadowing that future for years, but the gamers keep on bending right over and even squeezing the lube bottle for them. They haven't, and likely won't, be given a reason to stop marching toward that future.

I can write a poem in my head without ever writing it down on paper. I still wrote a poem, even if I just pass it along orally.

If I write a song for my girl, I'm not going to hand her a piece of paper with sheet music and lyrics, I'm going to perform it for her. I may write it down, or I may not.

Of course, composed is a more precise word, but everyone still knows what I mean if I replace it with write.
