Aww brother... out of many recent ones, this one is a tough one for me. I used to read his columns in Infoworld and Mac User before the blogs. He was a frequent guest on TWiT, but it looks like he and Leo had a falling out. No Agenda too, but that took a turn a while back when Adam found religion. I always relied on his (not always PC) cracks to lift my mood.

I am from Ukraine, been stateside since the late '80s, but visited Kiyv and my hometown of Odessa once a decade ago. I am far removed. So many perished on both sides, but we can do nothing but stand by. Can't ask Ukraine to surrender, can't let Russia to get away with this, there is no RTB while VP is running the theater, while the dead are piling up. It's a forever war at this point. Tell me it's not and there is something to look forward to. My spouse is from Russia and can't even visit her homeland to see her aging parents. Semi-annual meetups in Turkey or the UAE, but nobody's getting younger.

A friend with a RAM 1500 truck (a brute of a machine) bought a Harley in a neighboring state, I kept him company during the 8h ordeal. He rented a trailer because the bike was too heavy to hoist on the bed. Hillarious.

Costco rotisserie chicken at $5.99. I know it's their door buster, but since they won't increase prices on principle, it's the least expensive protein in town, delicious too.
Try to make one yourself for $5.99 when just a pound of chicken thighs at the same store is $3/lbs.

A dozen of eggs at Aldi's in FL was $0.79 in 2020. Now around $3.00.
Farmed salmon was commonly $8.99 at Costco, now it's $12.99 (sometimes on sale for $9.99).
It happens (FL). I haven't experienced it personally, but it's floated frequently enough in local news. Bicycles, I just take the full lane. Local bike lanes are suicide lanes. Brake or pass. Honk at your own peril.

Two words - Mini Cooper. Any gen. The dash in the center is an acquired taste, but you stop caring soon enough. Had 2, much fun, contemplating another or a 912. Drove my 2015 Mini from LA to Miami with a Weimaraner and an Akita in the back. Much fun.

I live in the state that's in the top 5 in the US for worst drivers. Yes, it's Florida. Constant racing on I95, Camaros racing Mustangs, Nissan drivers hallucinating they are in an M3/4, burning coal left and right. A Cyber Truck or a Denali tailgating me. Often, there are shootouts. It's nuts.
My main peeve is the scooters, like Razer, Hiboy, Segway. I can't take my dog for a walk without being assaulted by one from behind without a warning bell or a slowdown on a sidewalk. I've begun simply taking up the whole width of the sidewalk, I'm wide and so is my fido. Let them eat asphalt if they like. Sometimes they argue, but I carry pepper spray. AirPods on full ANC. It's good that none wear helmets, attrition is a thing. Oh, and they also get on the highways. It's madness.
Is it similar on the continent these days?

I didn't think I'd live to see a $50K Corolla. No disrespect to what's under the hood, but it's still a plasticky Corolla. It does its job at $25K for A to B. Stick to Priuses, Toyoda-san. VW Golf R still exists, thanks Odin.
Let the kids be kids, they'll grow out of it, we all do, as opposed to grown men rolling coal in their dually Fs and RAMs. Give me a nice riced out Integra or a Sylvia any day, or a nice low rider instead. A Camry with a rally rear spoiler is sad sight indeed though.
Harleys are my scorn locally, these "tough" patched up dudes with a day job. But what's even more annoying is that there are no helmet laws in my state, all that taking up ICU beds and all and none of them organ donors I'd assume.
I don't think it worked. I was floored by how much smoking I saw on a recent trip to Europe, by young people of all. Scary slogans on the packs, no effect. Cigs are barely a thing in the states now, you are kind of a low caste pariah if you smoke, but I guess vaping and cannabis picked up the baton. I am an ex pack-a-day smoker myself, but quit about 10y ago. Don't crave cigs or the smell, but do crave nicotine.
