Sounds neat! Also kind of funny, because I already use Fly machines as a bit of a playground for some personal projects and really like it for that purpose. I have minor issues, some of which this blog post directly talks about, but nothing that has held me back.

Also I like a lot of what you get built-in with Fly machines(ex:Grafana). So I am curious how this would fit in my workflow. Maybe Sprites for rapid development and toy projects, and move to a Fly machine when I need something a little more beefy?

Big time. I have a neighbor about half a block from me that would harass me when I would walk my dogs by his house. Based on his behavior I assume he struggles with some mental issues.

The one positive is I avoid his house completely, so now my standard dog walking route is a block longer, so more exercise for me and the dogs.

It depends on how your projects/team is funded. I’ve been on teams where a shutdown had a pretty immediate impact (people had to be shuffled around to other projects in the short term). I’ve also been on teams that get all their funding at the start of fiscal, so a shutdown doesn’t impact them until they need to be funded again.

East of Eden was one of like 3 Steinbeck books I havent read. I finally got around to it this summer and it’s probably one of my favorite books now.
