Such a joke right? It's hard to find a good time to schedule most things if you are scheduled properly. My mom had some surgery were they said we aren't sure the day of your surgery but just in case be prepared. We'll let you know the night before, hope you are ready.
Also care speed isn't that bad in Europe, I went to a few clinics while I was there with short notice and didn't have any issues. Same as America honestly, the price difference though was way better though.
Wildfires are worse in areas where the wrong type of trees were planted as well which is common in logging areas or places cheaply "reforested" that don't do much research on what should be growing there. Wildfires themselves aren't bad per say either as certain trees only grow from fires. Not to say that climate change isn't a factor though, but there are a lot of varibles too.
Public services? Isn't that exactly why he is paid less.
Just imagine if he worked somewhere private.
Deserve is an interesting phrase, who really does deserve more? The more you go down that rabbit hole the less you'll think people deserve in general.
That said. I only have an associate degree and even I made $70k at a regular tech job working with someone with a PhD. I got lucky though before, too bad he didn't.
Copernicus was well liked by the church and so his ideas that Galileo would make more popular weren't a problem originally, Copernicus books were fine for quite a while. The real problem was Galileo was just not well liked and there were all sorts of church issues going on at the time. The church or some aspects would later apologize like 20 years later after the event saying they went too far. Copernicus of course ran into stuff other Greeks and other cultures had seen far before. You make it sound like "Always had been" literally always had been when throughout history it was much debated and even acceptable without issue. I'm not Catholic though so I might get some of their history or terminology a bit mixed up but still. Throughout history various people have debated this topic and I know more about it from my Greek history class by accident then anything - Aristarchus of Samos was well known for debating for it and others following did try to prove it etc. Had the Greeks been more sure and had more proofs the church would have defaulted to that since so much was based on Greek thought but alas, people can only do so much in a time.
If they ask for the impossible then perhaps things are not looking good for the company. I think you better figure out somewhere else to go soon because that tends to mean they won't last much longer. It's a tough market but there is always hope, try and build out some side projects and get out before your company starts to fold or you are let go. Sometimes just a change of view is nice so maybe try something different.
Actually population world wide is dropping considerably and there are more empty houses per person then ever. Just almost no one can afford to live in them (only building expensive) or like rural they are just too expensive to repair. Some places are selling for $1 or giving away free houses because they know no one can afford them. Japan, Italy, Midwest America sometimes even pays you to move there out of desperation.
American medical practices are predatory, you literally never know what you are paying for until after you agreed to it. This type of debt should not be legal. The fact no one knows until months later is just idiotic.
Do you agree to pay for a car with no idea the cost? Then find random bills from people who glanced at the car or might be involved even if you didn't meet them? Well too bad if you want to visit a doctor you have to.
In what world should this this possible? I got a in-network nose examine that I'm happy my insurance paid the $1k+ for the 5 min examine to find out my nose was normal. I didn't realize there was a third party bill though, while it wasn't much imagine if I had some $5k examine or $20k examine, I'd not know the difference until I got the bill because it's America. You'd think since the insurance and hospital are same company this could be easier but no, multiple different payment companies for the different types of bills too. I have to look in multiple areas to check everything is paid for. How much more overly complicated can they make it?
There are many many reasons for war, not just because Putin wrote a fancy paper long ago about his aspirin, or because the drought in Crimea was costing Russia tons of money since they took over and had their water cut off or the falling population and economy that purposely did not reinvest properly to keep Putin in power.
Giving a simple answer is not wrong if the long one takes much longer to explain. Multiple factors can be true, I'm sure Russia was uneasy that Siberia wanted to leave and with Ukraine gone they would have no direct access to water there. And the threat of China slowing taking over Russian land *with Russian permission of course*. Russia has attempted to do something even if extremely poorly miscalculated. That's kinda what Russia is known for, doing something and very often failing at it.
They have been lucky, sometimes clever but often terrible truly terrible at long term long planning. Ask their unpatriotic AI what it thinks, they will get mad about it too.
I kinda feel most Americans should be trying to walk more... but also if the schedules and stops were improved people would use it far more. I'd like to take a tram or bus I just don't want to spend an extra 40+/- mins getting there to arrive with no protection from the weather. I don't particularly like taxis much but at least they figure out where you need to go without too much effort, I do drive though way more then I taxi. Taxis are more rare trips for traveling in places I don't know or can't drive. I wish we had high speed trains where I lived in my capital city, just an easy way to travel to the major cities by train would make my day. I'd travel far more often if I could then. Trains to me are the best of all worlds.
I wish bus stops where I live weren't so hostile to the user, no one wants to sit on metal in 100 degree weather, especially with no shade. Also if the buses came sooner then every 30 mins I would consider them more often but if it takes me 30 mins to walk to a stop where I sweat in the sun with no shade and the bus left early before I arrived I might end up waiting an hour hoping it arrives. So then I have to leave extra early and it's too much effort especially when I have a car.
I think basically there are three camps - those with problems they can't solve easily (trauma, situation) general unhappiness
- Those with biological issues, not getting enough sleep or bad nutrition etc
And the combo of those above which becomes much harder to solve and understand since both feed into each other. People might say x or y helped but it could be anywhere in this spectrum.
As someone who really likes IDE's especially since Java has such good free ones like intejilli I think they are awesome but for changing one line of code it's overkill. I often just use online editors for quick stuff if I can.
I would say it's not just behaviors but isolation causes stress on the body that increases more irrational behaviors and fears.
So that can be crippling when trying to get back to a health state that can handle relationships again. On-ramps to help destress the environment would be helpful too. It's a challenge because we haven't really built many areas where people are welcome to just be, even with 3rd spaces that doesn't those people that are now rewired in their stress state. Some types of maybe community service (clean up, plantings, painting etc) or festivals events might be more helpful here as they can sometimes be lower stress, no required interactions etc. It's a tough thing especially as people have different reasons to isolate though poverty is likely one of the most major ones.
#2-3 is where I would say the majority of people get stuck. I sure have, I volunteer to help people whenever I can but that doesn't mean I'll get paid or compensated for it. Not that I mind but I can get burnt out.
#1 can really be hard when #2-3 never seems to come into the picture for long. It can make anything you do seem like a waste of time. Can you add value, sure, is it worth it? That's where it can be tough.
I think a problem with a lot of this too is lack of real long term community too. But I think some people are just better at managing that naturally.
While we may not have free healthcare we have clinics that are pretty cheap and found throughout most areas. I'm not surprised that SSA is screwed up here just like the unemployment stuff.
If you can claim all that why haven't you already?
That's one of the reasons SVG is often a third party plug-in with WordPress it's because of all the security involved.
It's still expensive, I worked as a contractor full time for a tech company for a year which basically means I pay for my own insurance through Obamacare (though they did suggest insurance at work but they didn't pay anything towards it so it is just is in case you want a 4th party to help you help yourself). Still long before that I basically just said I didn't have insurance and would get the price knocked down considerably. Half the time it's cheaper not to even have insurance... But now I'm "responsible" in the hopes it might bring down the price for other things in the future. For planned events I recommend health insurance, despite how often it's not all that worth it. Honestly though my current insurance copay cost as much as being uninsured in other countries so I kinda laugh at this crazy idea. I pay about $100 to visit any specialist doctor and it only cost $80 to be uninsured in some other countries on top of the $350 a month I already pay.
This is a joke right? Even cats build custom languages for their servants, you think humans are worse then cats? Or are you talking about talkative babies? Most languages are somewhat like a type of math and pattern, similar to programming (I guess my logic class drilled that into me). If the majority of animals can count and show empathy they can certainly display consciousness without speaking. To me a better question is should plants one day be included since they "scream", some can see, hear and transform for their environment and they are quiet noisy it's just require better instruments etc. Figuring out how long to go on the list is where people struggle. If you can train worms without heads and plants to fear falling, it really becomes a question of what we want to use to define this. Which I think play is an important part.
Here in Texas we also have the drinking fountain and water bottle combo and I've seen them in most places.
That's ironic because I remember a few summers ago hearing about droughts in Europe. Looks like they may have had issues too but maybe not as public.

Sometimes the best one can do is try. It's worse to give up.
And are you a good judge on if it's better? Better can be very complicated, it could be better in part and worse in another but it's not wrong to try... (Unless well it really becomes really corrupted) We as people tend to overcorrect and so life will always swing from one end of a spectrum to another.
I think people do want to do good in the world they just get overwhelmed, or think it's impossible, or discredit the small good things they do.
Sometimes people think if you don't do a major good thing all the small things don't add up - honestly though it's often better to do smaller good long term things then a major non lasting one.
Besides the world is getting greener, healthier and happier all the time if you look in the right places. You will always find what you ask for, so look for good and you will find it. I follow so many YouTube channels showing how much the environment is improving and how such small things really get better. I try to sponsor them when I can and I hope to do more in the future too.
I also personally grow local fruit trees and various plants in my backyard to help local native species and while minor I am doing something even if small.
Learning to control your dreams is what I did with my nightmares, at some point it becomes so easy you can do it on command but... It doesn't always work and requires extra energy to stay in control often leaving me falling asleep in my dreams which ironically means I don't sleep well. And there are still nightmares I get, just had one a few days ago that left me too afraid to sleep again. Still, I think it's overall a good long term skill about building mental awareness. I learned it as a child on my own, and I believe adults can also learn it by simply studying their environment often and looking if anything else is amiss or "unrealistic". Sometimes you can also ask yourself questions before bed, and try to use visualization before sleeping or sleeping to sound or audiobooks to help you relax too. My family has a history of being more prone to spiritual and psychology issues so bring aware of family history can also sometimes make you idk feel less alone too. Just being able to shift the narrative can mean a lot and give you power when you feel powerless sometimes, but it can be tough to get there but baby steps can make a huge difference. Something I personally did as a child when I felt afraid was to visualize a golden warm light around me almost like a bubble, it didn't always work but I guess it helped to get away from negative thoughts by trying to focus on something protective for me. Soft repetition also seems helpful because it's predictable so perhaps finding something predictable may help too. And maybe looking into CPTSD.
When Charles Darwin (1880ish) created memes I doubt he thought they would die off in 2021...
YouTube is at the breaking point for me this week. Apparently I was tested with the optional popup that I needed to remove my adblocker or else. I refused now they don't bother with the popup and just display a message on the video itself and block me because of my adblocker. Literally a few minutes ago I tried to reply to a comment on my phone (that doesn't have adblockers) and every ad would cause what I typed to disappear while I was typing so I had to make sure to only comment after like 3 ads ran first. But I got so frustrated with it I left halfway through the video. Google is known for having bad service with useless customer support so why would I want to pay for service I know will continue to get worse no matter what? There is no reward for trying to maintain what I had. Are there no other means then a subscription to bring back what I once had for free? Why not invent something instead of ruining my feeds and forcing dumb shorts everywhere that are worse then tiktok? I am happy to pay it's competition for service.
The UI for Tears of the Kingdom has been quite annoying to me in this regard but so many aspects of that game were just troublesome. It's still fun, but the story and characters make no sense, the UI is modern and lifeless. They went into the weeds of the gameplay, you can see that's where they put their energy. I've been disappointed in a lot of the directions... It's just bad furries left and right. This game would sell with most anything they put in it, but it feels lackluster and unmemorable in many areas. I'm probably a minority in thinking the voice actors are trying too hard too..
I do love the idea of being able to go up and down though it feels a little awkward to me as I normally have to go way up to go down into the underground due to a lot of level design. I kinda wish they put some more cliffs nearby to save me the time. I like the underground a lot though and find that part the most fun.
What do you think most indies are? I'd consider most indies much more generalist. You can't ever know a whole field but you can know pieces of it and once you learn one system it can be easier to know another. I think for example programmers often make very good designers as they will think though problems, handle attention to detail, and work to often find multiple solutions if need be... Wait that sounds like every field doesn't it ;) code, art, design, sound etc.
The main issue is mindset, a programmer might cut short a design to save himself time, an artist might simplify the gameplay to not put in as much effort, and a musician or writer might not focus as much on the visuals because they get caught up in how it should it sound/read etc. But they certainly can take on other roles. If you have any experience with start-ups and indies or freelancing you might find yourself take over roles you didn't expect originally. On smaller teams this goes a lot further.
Who knows they could put something in there to change it, is it an online only desktop app? More and more of my desktop apps now require internet (for some stupid license check or something) so I've been avoiding upgrading them whenever possible but sometimes they sneak it in without telling me. I actually look for that as a feature for desktop apps now.
I remember reading it as something like that, how everything was about consumerism and happiness replacing religion and morals. In fact religion and morals ended up looking like some strange creature that no one could understand in the end and became like some lost civilization to poke at behind glass or some sort of zoo. I recall the ending the most striking as I'd say the character went to the extremes of religion in contrast to his culture, like a crazy monk going off to try and whip himself into shape to feel something that no longer existed in his culture therefore becoming their next form of mindless entertainment. Though I never took a class on this I think it would likely have been interesting. I know this book was written in opposite of 1984 but I feel it's messaging wasn't as clear. 1984 had two ending, this book, I'm not sure but it feels sort more hopeful in some weird way to me at least that was how I remember.
In a culture of overweight lonely youth lacking good public transportation and beautiful safe walkable cities, the future is at-cost privately owned driverless soulless cars and even more car focused ugly cities. I can understand why they protest. It will likely happen one way or another and could be good for some use cases but I'd rather find more community based methods that are better for the person and the environment. Soon you'll never need to see anyone for anything if not already. It will be easier to avoid the ugly. ....
Good for the young folks to push back. I remember San Francisco as a scary place, the streets of the poor and homeless had long stretches of dark zombie like people waiting. Just waiting around. At night they would make mini markets casting out ratty clothes hoping someone might pay them or perhaps trade for a shirt or pair of pants found from who knows where, just piles and piles of clothes of no value but to I suppose those who could find it. People who took shelter in whatever was left of a decayed community. Even in my area, a safe uppity hotel while I visited this area for work, I saw them sleep in strange phone booths, barely realizing someone was there but for the light not getting through the door crack. The hidden people locked away. I wonder how many more I never noticed. And at night many floors up you could still hear sometimes someone cry for help echoing out. I'm not really a fan of the city, but there were a few cozy areas well lit with strings of lights and rich expensive meals with street sitting made to take up space. They wanted the streets for themselves. Plants added a cozy factor and so many more trees were found there and the feeling of peace with the people dining and drinking under the cloudy night quietly enjoying the evening. What a strange contrast.
I had to get an uber driver for the bad areas and everyone was scared for me when I went walking by myself at night to go home on one of my trips. I still often would walk though, as perhaps a stupid act of defiance but I really wasn't all that far from my hotel. I remember forgetting a toothbrush once and finding them locked up at Walgreens and had to get help to purchase it. Prized item it was. One day we may even fear walking in the day. We don't know who lives by us, these unknown leftover Americans.
