As a current resident of Las Vegas, it is interesting to see articles like this written. We recycle 94% of the water that makes it to a drain[1]. In addition, recycled water accounts for 40% of our overall water usage[2].

However, I just broke a 3 year lease after 2 years because of both an in ground pool and very green lawn. Both contributing to a $300+/month water bill 5 months a year. The landlord could not get the HOA to approve landscape changes and the pool evaporated a thousand gallons a month. It is great there are laws for new houses, but there is still a challenge to change for homes built 20 years ago. Add in the electric bill for non-stop air conditioning in the summer months ...

No income tax in Nevada only goes so far. It will be interesting to see how much longer we can sustain our growing 2 million person population[3].

Having gone to UMD for computer science I can say that the DNS servers are not on the main campus. And certainly a completely separate group of people managing them than basic infrastructure of the Registrar. That said, collaboration would probably be a good thing if it does not already happen. But who's to say any system is infallible?

Sadly, technical roles as I yet to get an interview for a Product Management position. Companies seem to all require a certain number of years with that title and I have yet to find the right way of presenting myself. Maybe I should make a more concerted effort in that direction ... thank you!

Getting the interviews never seems to be the problem. The resume and cover letter HR screening process is pretty predictable. But not having "5 years experience in XYZ" is continually becoming a thorn in the side during in person conversations.

Well said. However, being a "very experienced dilettante" is exactly what I am hoping to capitalize on. When I left I was managing and mentoring people that were all older than me. Technology XYZ or tried-n-true architecture ABC is not always the best answer. I do not want to specialize because it forces me into a box.

Sites like Hulu and Netflix generate money from content that has already been created. The budget was found to create the initial content and publishing sites like these create residual income from targeted advertising. Great.

The content providers know the direction things are heading and probably know $20-30 a month for one channel from each subscriber is a tough pitch. So what's the ingenious model to offset the loss of big money cable television advertisements?

In August 2011, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld a lower court’s ruling that anything that was manufactured overseas is not subject to the first-sale principle. Only American-made products or “copies manufactured domestically” were.

It would seem if the sum of foreign made products makes a new product, you would still need the permission of original manufacturers to resell it. Wonder if that could be stretched far enough to say foreign food spices at restaurants can no longer be used.

Unfortunately, I need a solution that can track metrics for each individual customer and display results to them. Not an overall site tool.

Why now? Why this situation is it finally hitting home?

What confuses me is that David acts as if these are new stories of accounts frozen, staggered access to money, and blocked recourse to customer chargebacks. This has been happening for years with hundreds of publicly written stories of bad will by PayPal.

To be remembered for 50 years is more than most people in the world could ever achieve. Including world leaders.

4 years of medical school, 3 years of residence to follow (likely in another city of the US). For the startup, probably needs another year or two before the team can start working remotely.

How clever can people get with a set of API's, do something questionable and/or scary, and not get publicized? That's what scares me. So many open API's out there and clever people will keep their mash-ups confined to a closed circle audience. Makes me wonder when companies that offer open API's will be more discerning.

I love that they are profitable, growing rapidly, and generally kicking butt. My biggest wish for them is to start taking market share from Adobe by making their website toolkit more flexible and advanced. When a professional designer can get everything they want in a browser, no extra software, and changes are real-time...for me, they win.
