Now that Words/Excel are losing their battles against online documents, gaming is the only thing that's keeping me on Windows. Though I honestly enjoy using Windows 10, no way in hell will I upgrade my OS to Windows 11.

The story smells like bullshit to me.

I was tasked to add OpenOffice's hyphenation lib to our software at work back in 2010 when I was a junior dev. I had to read the paper and the C code/documentation to understand how it works but got stuck in one particular function.

It was such an obscure thing (compare to web dev stuffs) that I couldn't find anything on Google.

Had no choice but to ask on Stackoverflow and expected no answers. To my surprise, I got a legit answer from someone knowledgable, and it absolutely solve my problem at the time. (The function has to do with the German language, which was why I didn't understand the documentation)

It was a fond memory of the site for me.

They did have a plan. Temu/Shein used to ship directly from China, handling the shipping themselves for the sellers on their platforms.

Since a year or two ago (or even earlier), they started accepting (and encouraging) sellers to handle the shipping themselves (while still maintaining a fast shipping time) by giving those sellers more traffic.

In order to have fast shipping time, it basically mean the sellers need to have warehouses (or 3rd party warehouses) in the USA. It's easier for the sellers to workaround the tariffs when they are shipping in bulk to the USA.

The prices will be higher for sure, but it will be a lot lower than people are expecting.

Not sure how well the plan will work. Just what I heard from people working in the industry.

None of the people I know uses iMessage in Canada. In fact, majority of the people I know uses Android.

There are quite a few VPN providers I know that work reliably in China.

I have always heard that but I never understood how that's possible. I filled a rice bowl with water and reuse that same water to wet all the dirty dishes before rubbing, then rinse with cold running water from the tap.

The majority of the energy used in dishwasher is from heating up the water. If you wash with cold water, you are using less energy than the dish washer.

I love the backup camera, especially since I moved to a city with tiny parking space, which always trigers the beeping sounds left and right (literally). It's so annoying I wish I could disable them.

Sure Tesla could've named it better, but anyone who put their life on the hand of an immature technology is beyond my comprehension. News of crashes from people using Auto Pilot comes up here and there, why are people still willing to risk their life on trusting it?

Any slow moving vehicle on a high way is a hazard to other vehicles. Maybe that's a normal thing in China, but definitely not in Toronto. Judging from the video, the warning light from the cleaning truck was not sufficient even for human driver.

Where do you live?

That's one of the reasons I rarely plug my iPhone to the Mac. What does "sync" even mean? If I deleted a few songs from my phone, does "sync" means copying the deleted songs back to the phone? or delete those songs from the computer as well? or does it do nothing? I really hate that word.

I owned my first MacBook 3 years ago. To me, the MacBook "just work" as much as any new Windows laptops I came across. So I'm clueless as to where did the phrase "just work" came from. Maybe Windows has improved over the years, or maybe a lot of things are done of the web now, the OS doesn't really matter as long as there is a browser.

It was a unique game and worth the money, but the replay value is close to nil to me because it's more a game of luck rather than skill.

When it was first announced, it was available to everyone (I didn't have it). I think now it's open to everyone.

Originally, I wrote it for myself so that I can check meanings of Japanese word without an Internet connection while reading Japanese text.

But after I finished writing it, I lost interest in learning Japanese. So I don't use it, but I continue to put time on the app.

Am I the only one who can't see the Mail backup option? Only the Calendar option is available for me.
