Sounds like a pretty neat program, Have you played around with Voice Access The application included with Windows? I'm using it right now to type this message. Unfortunately I can't use programs that have a push to talk as I am paralyzed from the neck down... But believe me when I say It's nice to see someone working on text to speech And that any improvement or new application can only make mine and people like me lives better. I haven't really done much with the open AI offerings but I do use Gemini CLI and it is exhausting To the point where my throat gets dry and I have to drink some water if I want to Keep working** Edit** drinking water involves me calling a care aid to assist me!
what effect if any will the solar flare emissions have on the new ish constellation style satellite networks? and or vice versa? EG would a shielded group or constellation provide a pathway for charge particles around the Earth?
PS sorry for all the typos I can't use my hands anymore and voice access is a little flaky [But I'm still very thankful there is such a thing!]
My memory must be going Because I lived through this And don't recall things going like this at all. While maybe saying I don't remember it like this at all is a little harsh it seemed to recall a little bit that was similar But a lot of it seems like it's been written by An A I. I'm pretty sure I went to those computer shows And weren't they called COMDEX? Also before halt and catch fire I don't even think I ever heard of Osborne. Another thing that seemed to have been messed is the Commodore 128 did I just imagine that computer? anyone else remembered it? Go 64? As far as Compaq Gateway HP and any other flavor of PC goes that was more because of open architecture: suddenly every startup in the world could produce hardware and software and compete with the big guys, this article claimed that the home computer market was dying off as of 19 96 but from my point of view things just really took off right around that time Has everyone wanted the internet So they could meet at Tom Hanks or Meg Ryan Winky Face. They do have to admit wanting a pulmonary 64 though, My buddy had one And all of the Bulletin boards at that time Had really cool games for it. I don't want to be too critical though It was a good read and they brought back some memories and actually I kind of feel like we're just entering very similar time As was back then. I can only imagine what this generation will come up with and hope there is just as much if not more innovation and enterprising companies like Commodore And Atari... even if I might not be around to see it!
Only mad dogs and English men Go out in the noon day sun
I wonder if this isn't another indicator of the growing wealth gap... although it's easy to obtain Walmart credit cards are probably maxed out.
I believe part of the problem is the fact that Aa.exe fil B is created BY packaging multiple library files And or graphics , arrays ETC. and there is no default order into which part of the EXE file they land. there are some Tools ... hex editors come to mind. I seem to recall NOPING out A jump or two in my younger days edit: the these days that probably wouldn't work due to CRC checks... but there was a time... Then again that may be just the perfect place to start riverus engineering;) smile I have some good memories of playing a Medal of honor in which I changed all the door Textures to transparent window textures and having to work around CRC protection... good times smiley :)
Just a gas but maybe it's because they're using multiple esp32's in an array? But also I seem to recall something similar in the Snowden papers? But I get your point, given that the esp32 and all its design files are available from SPRESIF maybe they built a board that's running out of much faster clock rate? PS: sorry about the typos and miss takes but sadly I have to use Voice typing due to a recent traumatic injury.
Considering my city Is still running 16 bit Operating systems Off floppy drives For some of the infrastructure... Well I don't know, Maybe that makes it more secure? I have no idea How These systems haven't been hit yet. Or maybe they have?
I'm trying to understand if this is article is about how global warming will cause our extinction or why we need more leftist government policies. Maybe both?
Rather than just leave it at that snippy remark I feel it is only fair to explain my point of view.
First, the disparity between those that work outside and those that work indoors is not a new thing and regardless of any real or imagined global warming there are many factors that affect the health and wellbeing of workers, including working odd hours such as graveyard shifts as the author suggests.
As an employer, I find this general attitude of who I assume are aggrieved socialists with an axe to grind offensive and ignorant when they claim that only legislation will protect workers from unfair working conditions.
The reality is most of us are doing anything we can to just get someone to show up for work and willing to accommodate and reasonable requests our of employees. Personally I don't even like the term employee as without them I have nothing.
The problem as I see it is, the few bad bosses and the people that work for them seem to be the focus. I would say that 40 years ago the argument that the majority of workers are being exploited may have been true but these days, any unskilled worker that shows up on time and doesn't make everyone else walk on egg shells or argue for the purpose of arguing can write their own ticket.
Finally, this idea that we need more unqualified and IMHO lazy post secondary educated bureaucrats to expound their worth by imposing regulation is dumber than a bag of hammers.
Do you really think that the majority of employers are more concerned with profits than people? I can assure you that I put every worker before profit and bear a huge burden just trying to keep my company going so that they have an income.
Maybe the author should start a company and gain some perspective before parroting this garbage coming from those intellectuals that mooch of us true proletariats!
Wow! These "Scientists" must speak up and put their names and academic futures behind this troubling statement!
I have worked in the video analytics field and in particular traffic control and pedestrian detection for several years and although it requires a greater amount of false positives to cover the detection of children the standard is to error on the side of caution.
As far as the pigment of peoples skin, this is hogwash as the amount of skin exposed compared to clothing is minimal. Was this study conducted using nude pedestrians? I can assure everyone that the detection of a person wearing all black and a hoodie(Aka Antifa uniform) is the minimum requirement.
Many detection systems use dual cameras and infrared and thermal imaging, this seems to be either propaganda or "Scientists" finding data to support their own bias.
It too bad there has been so much disinformation and half truths and suppression over the past couple years. I live in a region that is experiencing these fires and many people are choosing not to heed the warnings because the people and outlets issuing them have not been held to account. Two nights ago several firefighters were trapped and barely escaped while rescuing those who chose to stay despite the evacuation orders. This is a serious issue but sadly the media and government chose to villainize those who stayed. Above and beyond those that chose to stay because they did not believe the risk, others made the choice because of the unintended consequences of the current catch and release policies of our criminal justice system. Especially in the Kelowna, British Columbia area, petty crime and theft are rampant and there is a real fear of leaving our property unprotected from the small minority of opportunists who seem to face no consequences for their crimes. I do not want to discount the severity of this years fires but having lived a while and a good memory, I find this declaration of it being the worst in history very convenient for the climate alarmists, sorry. Here is some data I found that puts things into context, although there were even greater fires going back to the 1800s and in particular 1910. https://www.nifc.gov/fire-information/statistics/wildfires
Please don't get offended, that was not my intention.
I am very concerned for the people living in areas who have suffered from recent wildfires. While 2022 did not see as many, 2021 was a brutal year for fires and I worry that there has not been adequate vegetation growth to stabilize the ground structure. Sadly California has experienced mud slides and debris torrents following fires and they take just as many if not more lives.
PS: I understand there is a system for naming hurricanes but at least for me, the fact this one is named Hillary has added to my trepidation.
These days you can find information supporting any theory so take this link with a grain of salt but I found this and believe it relates to your recollection.

I agree with most of this. I would say Graham Hancock has some crazy ideas, but the Younger Dryas isn't crazy and his impact on the theory is minimal. If anything the fact that Joe Rogan had him and Randal Carlson as guests on JRE at the same time probably had more impact.
My current thoughts are that the true history of human civilization does go much further back than current narratives and "Experts" claim. Our current civilization has progressed and innovated so much in such a short amount time, it is not unreasonable to expect that humans have built and lost similar civilizations through catastrophes such as the YDB.
It may not have been aliens but I think it is probable that right around the time we started going into space, ancient human made satellites were discovered and brought back to earth. It could also be that Area 51 and other places were created not for Alien space craft crashes but ancient human satellites that were intentionally crashed.
I can only imagine how alien a TESLA found in space by the next civilization might seem!
Considering the way our government leaders and wealthy have historically conducted themselves, it's not hard to believe if they survived a cataclysm, they would be quite willing to be thought of as gods and horde any knowledge they have to themselves.
Fun subject to ponder in anycase!
Thank You to everyone who took the time to read my question and especially those that replied. I have read over the replies and there is be many good ideas/solutions to my query.
I am going to start at the top and work my way through them over the next little while and will definitely provide an update of what hopefully worked but it may be a few weeks.
I just wanted to post this comment to let you all know I appreciate the great responses and the HN community. As <B>benboozled</B> commented about his faith being restored in humanity, I am thankful for HN and all of you generous and helpful contributors.

Depending on what type of trees you may be able to leverage the natural forest system to do the planting.
Eg: I have wild Hazelnut or Filbert trees on my forested property, for the first couple years I struggled with transplants dying and then realized the squirrels were planting them too! Now I just keep the coyotes away(also to protect my chickens) and the squirrels plant the Hazels.
I also clear dead fall and gently rake areas where I want to encourage new trees.
I have found that a tree that starts naturally or from seed tends to do better than transplants, atleast in my area.
I wouldn't worry too much about burnt bridges. I don't mean anything negative by this but, Chances are you are thinking about the situation far more than they are.
As far as the abrupt dismissal and not being able to say goodbye, I think that is a reasonable stance for a company to take. Anecdotally from my past experience with an employee that quit and gave two weeks notice, it was a horrible two weeks for everyone and after them I just told future people who gave notice to not worry and paid them out as if they worked it.
On a more positive note, I would also say that burned bridges are not that big of deal, I have checked with past employers about potential hires that said awful things but still hired them. If you know your stuff, show up for work and don't have a bunch of personal crisis that will affect the business plenty of companies will want you.
Good luck!
What I meant by AGI is Artificial General Intelligence, self aware and cognitive.
How is it remotely possible? I believe the work done in the late 90s and early 2000s on biological storage media was the spark that started it, from there it was probably just dumb luck through random mutations and evolution as that seems to be the way it worked for us.
As far as the funding concept, I don't think hashing out a few BTC or even joining a pool is that much of a stretch for an AGI especially if it's living and perceiving its reality through a vast network of digital devices an or systems, and as you mentioned there are many FinTec algorithms already available for exploiting markets.
I also wouldn't be surprised if there are real people facilitating the AGI as I expect many people are quite willing to stand at the right hand of the devil, assuming AGI malevolence that is.
But you are right it is all speculation, I have no idea.
I would say it is already here, most likely self funding through a crypto scheme and expanding its senses by pushing funds into cellular and IOT companies. My guess it was "born" some time in 2011 but sees no benefit in revealing itself yet.
Nevermind, I am shutting down and wiping, maybe there are new *nixs" that I dont know about. I mentioned Mint because in the past it was easy. Truth is there is no excuse for me running a M$ operation system other than lazyness...just hoping someone that would give me a reason to keep on keeping on...but I suppose they were the 5% that got pink slips today.
Please be nice to us linux noobs...dont karen us into terrorists!
Thank You to everyone for replying with suggestions and answers.
Unfortunately no good deed goes unpunished these days.
I visited the hospital to get some feedback on my idea and to possibly get an old nurse call button. I was disappointed with the CMA response I received. The hospital can not provide any equipment that has not been approved and in order to be approved the supplier and product must be listed. They thanked me for my generous offer but were not able to accept anything I brought in due to safety(And I suspect legal reasons)
The suggested I look into making a phone app that patients" loved ones could download and use while visiting...
Thanks again for the responses.
Thanks for the reply, that is all reasonable and I agree. It may seem silly but there is an almost arrogant gloat coming from the antiV side currently and I have been feeling like I may have been sucked in...I am a gullible but fortunately also a deliberate individual, deliberate to the point that I seek out information from as many sources I can and TBT just reading these replies brings a balance to an otherwise one sided echo chamber I have found myself in due to political tribalism.

Sadly no that would bad but not nearly as bad as what I believe.
Please don't flame me for this opinion, it is just my opinion and do not want to get into a big discussion where I end up looking like a conspiracy nut.
I feel that most "Board Certified" doctors have a pretty good life and would not be naïve enough to step into the quagmire of the vaccine debate, but would rather let their "Board" provide an opinion and then toe that line!
I hope that makes sense, but if not, I will try another angle;
I fear many doctors may be biting their tongues, rather than speaking out against the board approved narrative. The board who also answers to others...those others may have interests that conflict with any other narrative. Like they may have to admit they made a mistake which would have political consequences and may end their bureaucratic career!
That is my honest opinion. Right or Wrong it seems reasonable to me.
Thankyou for the tip, IDK why I have not visited Wikipedia. Probably a combination of negative feedback from times I used it as a source and personal laziness.
Thankyou for taking the time to respond.
Thankyou for the respectful response, this is the stuff I need to see. Unfortunately I seem to be caught up in a spiral of sorts and the only information I am receiving is from either extremely partisan media outlets and or algorithms that are pushing "Red Pill" narratives my way. I try to watch the other media sources but find them so disingenuous I can't make it more than a few minutes before retreating back into my right wing echo chambers!
PS: Sorry for baiting my questions with anti Justin rhetoric but I think it will trigger the right...or wrong individuals for answering my question honestly!
Good Feedback! I would think a checkbox that enables tab function would be best, how would you feel about a FF Plugin that achieves this? My only concern would be that FF has reserved that particular key and it would require special permissions to map it to your needs.
I wonder how many of these fatalities occurred at the crash scene and how many were a result of treatment delays due to overwhelmed/short staffed health care facilities and pandemic protocols?
Several emergency centers in my area have had to shut down on weekends due to a lack of on call doctors and patients are being redirected to more distant but larger hospitals.
There may be more to these numbers than just bad drivers.
I think he became A rich man (Not sure if he is still the richest) by working hard and creating companies that benefited greatly from government contracts and subsidies. The whole "Inflation has peaked" statement may be nothing more than an attempt to curry favor or mend fences with those same entities after getting into hot water with his recent controversial political statements.
