While many raves are like that, many others are not. I do agree that the ones that are like that are annoying. But I wouldn’t not go to any rave-like scenes just because it may end up that way. I’d lose out on too much, personally.

The only idea conveyed in your message that has any factual basis is that psychedelics should be taken with a lot of care, preparation, and consideration, including pre existing susceptibilities.

Everything else you said builds on top of this idea as if they are also fact based, but they are not. Let’s not make the social acceptance of psychedelics even harder than they already have been made to be.

I think this is a good answer. I'll add that as soon as you need to do something slightly more complex, without something like k8s you aren't going to be happy with your life. With k8s, it's almost a 1 liner. For example, adding a load balancer or a network volume or nginx or an SSL cert or auto scaling or...or...or...

There are many times "clean code" is a good goal to have. It depends on what you mean by "clean code" and what you mean by "deduplication". As with many things in software engineering, the best answer to whether you should strive for "clean code" is "it depends."

If you have a utility function that you are redefining in every file, literally copy/pasting it everywhere, then you might as well create a shared function and import it and use it everywhere instead. This is an example of a good goal.

I like to think of it as a tool that helps you get out of writers block. You still have to write once you’re unblocked; it won’t be able to write for you.

Care should be taken, like with any substance we ingest. However, I disagree with your premise.

We do not know if LSD was in fact the catalyst. We don’t know if the people who got ruined after taking a single tab of LSD actually took LSD or some research chemical (which are quite commonly sold off as LSD).

Even if it _were_ possible to only have the “government” have access to our personal devices and information, why would anyone want them to have that access? There are things I want to share only with my family, and ideally, I should have the ability to do that comfortably in this age of IoT. We won’t solve crime by allowing the government to spy on us; at best, it will cause the crime to be diverted or changed in form.

Psychedelics should be treated with respect. I often speak to people who have no clue what dosage they take or took. Due to the potency, it’s not as easy as other substances to know whether you’ve had too much, and that’s why they require extra care.

You could die if you drink too much water, or if it is contaminated; that doesn’t mean water isn’t good for you.

I agree with OP’s recommendation that one should consider trying LSD only after much research and understanding. It has changed many lives, yes...mostly for the better, according to my research. Even “bad trips” can be for the ultimate good.

Looking at the definition of psychosis:

a severe mental disorder in which thought and emotions are so impaired that contact is lost with external reality.

Based on my research, typical (and even greater than typical) recreational doses of LSD do not cause a “severe mental disorder” as described in the definition.

At “raves”, for example, lots of people are under the influence and yet they have not lost contact with external reality.

We are taking about DRM here. How do you know they are being stolen by breaking DRM? Maybe they copy DVD's or screeners or hacking a content provider. Not necessarily bypassing DRM. Some that do that I've seen are very low quality, hence my statement about lossless.

DRM can't work in theory, but it is working in practice.

If someone writes a piece of software that allows downloading of DRM-ed content (without losing quality, and playable anytime) from the big names (Netflix, Amazon, etc), then this battle would be won.

Whether or not the DNC was hacked by the Russians or someone else, or it wasn't a hack at all, but a leak instead is less important to me than the fact that because of this incident we all were made aware (with proof) of the shit-show and corruption that exists in our government. Encrypted video playback is/was a big reason as well. The browser wars for HTML5 EME for playback of encrypted content is still crazy, but only very recently been slightly manageable.

Safari - only FairPlay encryption through HLS, but only modern versions of Safari; Chrome - Widevine Dash, IE - Playready Dash (and smooth), but only recent versions, Firefox only after version 52 do they finally support Widevine Dash, otherwise no EME prior to that.

I work for a large, well-known tech company and they just re-titled all of their front-end engineers to "Software Engineer" (probably to stop creating a pay divide between front-end and back-end engineers). If you have a "Software Engineer" doing basic wordpress stuff, another "Software Engineer" doing PHP/Zend framework stuff, another doing pure JS/React/Angular stuff, and another doing backend services (concurrency/spring boot/API, etc) - the pay scales of all these "Software Engineers" should be different.

I'm surprised it's not trimodal.

If it were a smaller company I'd like to see proof.
